What has the AMA said about the petition lately?
« on: December 17, 2010, 09:30:07 AM »
Hello,

I was wondering if anyone, especially Burn1986, has heard anything from the AMA regarding the petition?

Last they said, they were concerned with wrapping up the road racing season before bringing the matter up for discussion but now time has gone by and they must surely have had the chance to consider the matter.

Have you heard anything Burn? Is there anything any of us could do to assist?

Thanks,

Jim

I think 4 stroke dirtbikes are a phase, kind of like "Glam Rock" in a way. You see the whole world subscribing to it, and you wonder how everyone could be choking down so much Kool Aid and Spam... Then 10 Years later, nothing's left but the timeless stuff from before and after..

With 2011 Supercross series starting in just weeks, we do not have time to look at changes like this. LOL  Atleast I will bet my dollar it is the answer.  My personal guess, is that the book has been written already for 2011. Just not released yet.

Yeah what Charles said. My guess is it's the old "stall them" technique and then they will use the SX season as an excuse. It's a shame because burn has done a terrific job and worked his ass off.

That's exactly why I have been asking about this. Burn HAS done an excellent job, and the AMA seemed more receptive to the idea before it had demonstrated it's popularity. They have seemed less receptive to it as it's gathered support which seems counterintuitive.

The petition is a stepping stone, as was Project Two 50.
If the petition gets the rules changed, great!
If it doesn't, what will happen? Petition or not, 2 strokes are re-gaining momentum.
Project Two 50 didn't accomplish it's goal directly, but it did what it set out to do.
This year there are several 2 strokes being built right now to attempt to qualify.
More and more 2 stroke only events are popping up. Everyone needs to focus more on TSM's goal, and let the petition do it's job. Whether it passes or not, it is working.
What will bring our smokers back is awareness, spread the word! Twitter, facebook, YouTube, tell your brothers boss, tell your cab driver, etc.
My goal for TSM is the same as John's, a place for fans to have a '2nd home'.
We can make anything happen we are the consumer.

What would make for an even better victory.. All these 2 stroke only events come up, and grab more attention and ratings than the 4's. You guys know as well as I do it can happen.
People just need to know about it. :)

Project two50 may have had some bad luck but they succeeded their mission. To get the two stroke out there. Things are only getting better.

You want to see two strokes racing, go to am enduro or hare scramble...  Many were starting to convert but realized the thumper is too heavy to be a woods weapon, and have gone back to the smoker.

Exactly right!

Tons of KTM's, quite a few RM's CR's, 2 KX's, not many YZ's besides mine. And 1 real nice Gas Gas :)
