i grew up there as a kid as my old man worked there , an old friend just sent him these pics from the 70's maybe a few of you kiwi boys will remember those crazy bastards in the helicopters well my old fella was a shooter on one of them

made the cover of wings magazine

TMKIWI:
Cool Shanes, I thought you had a bit more class then the average aussie.

Those guys sure were mad bastards.
Would have been an exciting way to make a living.
Simpler times for sure. I don't think OSH or H & S would allow that type of activity today.
Peter Avery, the pilot who flys me into the bush used to do live capture. He has a place in Fiordland.
Maybe your old man knows him.?

shanes:
He would for sure , he was there 3-4 weeks ago was invited over the put collars on the deer to track them etc

Most of the guys he worked with are dead now, all from crashes hard bastards those Kiwi pilots

he is the old ****er you see in this Pat

TMKIWI:
Cool. I saw that on the news the other night.
My hunting mate keeps trying to get me down there for the ballot.
But listening to his stories ( he's been before ) that is some hard country.
Last time he went down for 14 days. It rained every day. And when it rains in Fiordland, it f***ing Rains.
One day maybe.
