Just found this awesome history site
« on: December 11, 2009, 04:30:17 AM »
WOW! I just stumbled upon this web site. It has typed out copies of old tests of bikes from various magazines. The site is for both dirt and street bikes and has tons of info... I'll probably be visiting quite a bit in the next weeks.

The link below is for the page of motocross bike tests....

Enjoy!

You didn't know about that?  I've had that bookmarked for a year now, it's my #5 most visited site according to Google Chrome.

Is this Maico a 440 or only a 400?  Well in all the confusion, I forgot myself.
But considering this is a 1978 Magnum, the best-handling bike in the world, you have to ask yourself one question.
Do you feel lucky, punk?

#1 - YouTube
#2 - Google
#3 - Wikipedia
#4 - MX Simulator

I suspect the MX Sim site is going to get replaced by this one pretty fast, as this has replaced it as my forum of choice.  And actually, it looks like this has already gone past the Motorbike Archives.  I'm not on there as much anymore because I've already read all the Maico and Husky tests they have, and watched all the Carlsbad USGP videos. :)

thanks John just what I need another distraction to spend hours with on the internet..

I clicked on the link and scrolled down and saw the article on the CanAm 250GP.

I remember when Pat Moroney rode one for a season and at the end it basically ended up sitting outside of Moroneys shop as a worn out and rusting throw away. I think Can Am "wanted the bike back" as he was riding it locally before he went pro and though he wasn't "sponsored" by CanAm the bike was "free". The GP's are fairly rare these days and I also remember owning a 250MX1 and the MX2 and GP outdating me not once but twice within a year after my purchase. Pat really hauled ass on the 250GP and took on and dusted all comers back in the day.

The Internet is full of distractions!! Hours just disappear in the flash of an eye....

Pat was a real bad ass racer..... and a complete character as well.
