scalvini pipe for a 2007 honda cr125
« on: October 27, 2012, 02:37:14 AM »
Have any of you mx'ers used this pipe on a 2005-2007 honda cr125? if there's a difference between the 3 year's, don't think there is, I want to know about the 2007.   Is it a mid to top end pipe with awesome over-rev or is it crap. I've been waiting for some feed back on this pipe.  More question's to come so put on your thinking helmet's.    KIM

The 05-07 engines are identical. A few years ago I talked with the vortex ignition importer, he said the 05 has a mechanic power valve, the 06-07 power valve is tied to the ignition. The 06 will run stronger with an icat, they work great on cr,s , but don,t work on rm,ktm,s don,t know about yz,s.  I never heard what the  scalvini pipe does, I would guess mid to mostly topend. I have a 03 kx hgs bud pipe that I hacked up to fit on my 04 and 06. Sharper hit then a much wider and stronger mid pulls hard to about 12,000 then has a lite pull on the over rev to about 13,000 or so. Pulls stronger than modded  38hp rm,s and yz,s i had. There,s a hgs importer in Mn., I think you can use a pc silencer with there pipe.

Hi Super Trucker are you telling me to get a 03 kx hgs bud pipe? The only i-cat i can find is a i-booster,is there a difference between the two? If their's a difference how can i get a i-cat? Have also heard of black ops moto coil as well as their jd ignition. Both are expensive. Never heard any review's or testimonial's on these 2 product's??? So keep rippin.     KIM

I tested both the new ibooster isn,t as good as the old icat. I,ve seen new icats on craigslist, selling for cheap. MY engine guy said the honda ignition is good, jd ignt. not much of a diff.  That 03 kx pipe is alot of work to get a good fit, cutting, bending, pound the pipe in for clearance for the kick starter. There,s Europian riders on here that say the HGS adds alot of mid. I had a HGS on a 01 rm125  big mid boost and spread.  I  like the pc pipe on my 04, more than the 03 kx pipe, the pc  is quicker getting on the pipe, then has  a wide strong mid pull, with good ovr rev. The hgs pipe has a beefier mid pull, pulls longer, with more ovr rev. The 04 has a 2mm stroker crank,2mm ovr bore,  a stroker crank slows down the engine response. The hgs on the 04 is too slow coming on the pipe, the same pipe on a 06 is much quicker.  Take advantage of the 125,s strengths, cornering, getting threw technical stuff quick, a quick resonding pipe= quick cornering.  Depends on the track in the USA, ya want a quick pipe to get in2 the strong mid to clear jumps out of corners.  In Europe  fast tracks, mid with alot of top.
