Getting ready for the first race of the season
« on: March 27, 2012, 12:47:12 AM »
This weekend is the first in my MX race of the season up here in CT. Just finished up tuning up the bike and cleaning it from bars to rims. I think I am ready to race  ;D Southwick MA 338 this Saturday and Sunday. Anyone else here going? The sand is going to a whole new technique...
Clean and ready to go  8)

Thanks, I try to be...  :) And it's a dyno racing ports pipe. Not very common on any bikes for some reason. My bike was the first one I had ever even heard of it on. But it works great and gives me so much bottom end.

Hahaha, that's my ghetto stand. I made it out of some spare wood I had.  ;D

I'd love to make the drive down from Maine, but no money.  Southwick was always my favorite track when I raced NESC, I got my first trophy there back in 1985.  There were so many 125 Novices back then (90+) that they split them up into 3 separate first motos, then took the top finishers of each 3 and combined them for 1 second moto.  if you didn't finish in the top 13 in the first moto, you went home!!  I got a 2nd and 9th for 4th overall, seems like yesterday...

I'm hoping I do decent. 250C for now, so it shouldn't be to bad. I just hope that my tires hook up alright in the sand.

yea, i was atonished at how small the turn out was at Budds for the MAMA series last weekend.

there were THREE "A" riders,  about ten B.  and maybe 30 C.  Open Unlimited had about 4 guys and one of them had a kickstand and headlight.

I had not seen the death of motocross for myself yet, but I saw it last weekend.

oh and of the 3 A riders in attendence, one was on a KTM150sx, and one was on an RM250.  third was on a KXf450, and judging by how he rode, i'd say it was given to him.

Every picture I have on this forum has been from a laptop webcam... It sucks dragging my laptop out side and stuff, but I finally broke down and bought a digital camera. I'm going to find (or make) some bar mounts for it, so maybe I can have some footage up here soon.  ;D  8)

Good Luck and have fun. Those older yz,s are decent bikes,I had a 95 ncy yz125,it was     Pedro Gonzales supercross bike,I think would be competive today yet. Those pics have the pipe, rear brake lever, kick start lever,on the wrong side, freaks me out.

Hahaha, Those pics are just mirrored. And I love my bike. I don't care what year its from, it kicks the sh!t out of my friends 250f and is more than capable of keeping up with other 250 2t's. I don't see why people always tell me to buy a new bike, it's more than capable  ;D

Thanks  :) I will do my best  ;D I am going to make some bar mounts for the camera today. It should be easy, I have some free time in the shop now, so I will bent out some metal pieces that should fit nicely around the 7/8ths pro taper bars. MAYBE I can get some trail ride footage today, if I get out of work early enough  ;D

speaking from experience, the time and effort you will put into trying to use a standard digi cam and fabricating mounts is NOT worth it, considering goPro hero HD are now sold at Target, in stock, on the shelf for 295 bucks.

These days for the cost of 1 goPro, 1 copy of Sony Vegas movie studio HD, and a little creativity, you can be a regular Martin Scorcese.  But trying to mount a digi cam to your bike with some home depot shit,  not worth it, especially when you see the shake/howl of the finished product.
