Allowing equal-displacement sure did RUIN the racing just like DC said it would, huh?  I think brother Coombs has a video to watch.

By the way, I have to say I never realized just how much time four-stroke riders spend with the revs pegged to the limiter.  It's just constant, no wonder they like to blow up.


Is this Maico a 440 or only a 400?  Well in all the confusion, I forgot myself.
But considering this is a 1978 Magnum, the best-handling bike in the world, you have to ask yourself one question.

constant peg at rev limiter = killing the thumper

the 250f, however is easier on the rider and not as hard to hang on to, like the 250 smoker.

the 250 smoker rider might be feeling tired thus slowing down abit.

High Point....Sheet.  Haven't riden a MX race in over a year.  Under a foot & a half of snow....sub zero temps this morning.  Now I've got a raging chub & I'm going to have to go put the studs bak on the YZ.  Dammit. ::)

Just seen the whole thing, and I must say, that is the smoothest track I have ever seen. The tracks in 1977 up here in New England were rougher in their smoothest sections than anywhere on that track. In fact, my vintage track is rougher. Only the jumping is technical. Pathetic!
    That is definitely a better track for a lower horspower bike with flywheel effect, which is why the rider on the fart machine had a chance. I stopped watching pro races 6 years ago because they were boring, they changed the tracks to suit the 4 strokes, and too loud.
