Two YZ250's For Sale in Oregon

1990 Yamaha YZ250 with WR gearing, weighted flywheel.

1982 Yamaha YZ250, torn down, needs rebuilt, can be considered parts bike. 

My friend is moving and looking to sell them.  The 1990 was rebuilt before he bought it and its in good shape, lots of compression, starts easy and rides pretty good.  He quit riding it a year ago though when he bought his KX500.  They are both as is.  He would probably take like $600 or $700 (maybe even $500) on the YZ250 since he's moving he got to get rid of them fast.  The 1982 probably like $100 since it's basically a pile of parts right now.  He did pay like $1000 or so for the 1990 YZ250.

(this one has been torn down now though and needs a FULL rebuild, all bearings, I mean the crank was rubbing off the side case, bearings have lots of up and down play, the powervalve arm is worn down and needs top end of course).

I would quite like the 82 but might cost abit much in freight for me.

Nice project I guess if you like that year, not so sure 1982 was a year ppl wanted b/c it was the first water cooled and it's a heavier bike than the 81, has the coolant on the handle bars.  The connecting rod is shot even and side case is bad.  I would say cost you $800 to rebuild, I mean pistons and rods are more expensive than Maico parts for the early 80s YZ 250s.

That arm for the YPVS cannot be found though NOS.  I'd be worried about wear on the crank given the condition of the crank bearings and stuff.

1990 sold for $500.

The 1982 is still for sale, $100.

I have a 90 YZ250 love it, if I was still 160lbs I would still ride it, but it's out in the garage on a stand, Don't think I'll ever sell it, as I put so much into it, and it was my first bike, I'd never get what it's worth to me. I'll post some pics of it one day.
