well i had a local +30 OTHG event this weekend at the Hollister GP track. for those of you not from the cali bay area. hollister is a great old school motocross track. any way we had a great day of racing, we did a 3 moto format and im pleased to say i won my class, +30 INT on my YZ250 against a bunch of pigs. i went 1, 2, 1 for the overall. WOOHOO!!!! so here's the kicker, the promoter put on a 2 stroke only open class. it was so bad a--. we had about 14 guys and we all lined up and went for it. it was the highlight of the day. i took 3rd overall behind a couple of 30 EXp riders. here is a helmet cam video taken buy the guy that won the event. im the guy on the yz you will see to the right off the start then i tried a pass on lap one and got the door closed on me and i kinda fell back and paced the 2 leaders, they were pretty fast so i just didnt have enough to make another move. but i held my own and came in right behind them for a strong 3. i guess we checked out on the rest of the pack. it was so fun!!!

General Two Stroke Talk / Took 3rd overall this weekend on my YZ
« on: April 27, 2010, 06:12:08 PM »
so as most of you know i do a lot of racing, nearly every weekend at that, and honestly i am 1 of very few left on a 2stroke in norcal  >:D. no big deal, im all for a challenge that was part of my reasoning for going back to the smoker. well things have been going great this season, 3 weeks ago i got my first overall win in 30 int or b class, and 2 weeks ago i raced a 250f open class and took 8th out of 25 kIDS, im 32 and the rest of the pack was average age of 15-16 and all on 250f's. i also qualified at hangtown for the honeylake loretta regional on a gate full of 450's and last weekend i raced the 2 day OTHG sierra vet national and took 3rd overall for the weekend against a line of 4pigs. woo hoo!!!! i have got to admit that i am getting a tremendous amount of attention and track side support. its great!!! i have a great group i race with but many outsiders are coming up to me and asking questions. the main question is why? i never really know how to answer them. i usally just tell them its because of the fun factor. then i explain the cost of maintaining etc... the people usally ask me what year my bike is and are blown away when i tell them its a 2009 yz 250 :o i had about a dozen or so riders this past weekend from different classes tell me they were cheering me on and they just loved the way my bike sounded ripping up the hills at hangtown, lol. i love it!!! i have a lot of racing left ahead of me this year and my goal is to win a vet national. anyway ill report back in as the season progresses and let you know whats going on out there at the races and in the pits of us true privateer warriors ;D in the mean time keep it on 2 wheels and dont forget to keep the revolution moving forward in a positive way.

General Two Stroke Talk / Dr D. made his own custom YZ silencer
« on: April 17, 2010, 08:29:54 PM »
so just like the title says. my buddy raced in the glen helen 2t national and said when he was walking around in the pits he took a double take at dubach's yz 250. so he starts talking to him about the silencer he has on his bike and he custom made it from a canister they normally use on there mini thumpers. no pics though, errr!! did anyone else see it? from what i was told it looked and sounded bad a--!!!!!

General Two Stroke Talk / i love my new yz!!!
« on: February 22, 2010, 07:43:29 PM »
just like the title of the thread says..... i love this thing. so i picked her up on friday morning, worked on the break in all day ad was up until 2 am pulling every bolt baring etc.... and greasing her all up. got my new backgrounds all put on and rode practice saturday all day. i was so stoked because i was out in the int, exp practice and fell right into my pace. went racing yesterday and finished 4-4 for a 4th overall. my first moto i was somewhere 7-8 off the gate and picked off a few guys and was about 2 turns from the front at the finish. second moto i was 3 off the gate and battled with 1 and 2 for 5 laps. the guy behind me always beats me even on my 450 so im stoked at this point. then on the white flag lap its starts pouring rain and i stared to hold back because it was slippery and scetchy out there. i gave up that 3 spot but not without a fight.

i just cant believe how much fun i had riding this bike and how competitive i was. i didnt lose a thing. once they post my transponder times i will compare them to past times on my 450 but i think its going to be even. i was also way less tired at the end of each moto on the yz, cool!! being that im not a stranger to 2t's it was so easy to adapt to the yz and i had been practicing alot on my old 01 cr at the track. all my friends said i looked smooth and my only question to them was how did it sound, lol!!! oh and the best part is , a guy that normally beats me in my class, i beat him both moto's, SWEET!!!!!!

thanks for all the input everyone, cant wait to do a top end now, hahaha!!!!

General Two Stroke Talk / need help, lets hear it!!!
« on: February 02, 2010, 09:43:40 PM »
well, where do i start? how about with im fed up with 4t's. lol....

seriously though here is my situation. the 2010 race season is starting for me witch includes mainly OTHG Vet mx, ama arean x, i know i know....... local bay area races i.e cmc, amp etc... and i will be attending a few lorreta qualifiers this season in hopes to make a regional. most of my classes are age group depending on promoter i.e. 25+ 30+ and the occasional 450 open and or 450 INT. so being that i am a mainly age group/vet rider there are no displacement rules, its all open. hence the reason i went to a 450 when i turned 30. so here is where im at, my 07 crf 450 is a granade with the pin out right now. it has close to 200 hrs on it and im just not willing to dump the 2 g's into it to keep it rolling for 2010. i recently sold my 07 cr 250 to buy my girlfriend a RING, lol, had to do it. i have my 01 cr 250 that might need to go bye bye to fund racing and a new bike. im not willing to spend the coin on an AF 500 and really want to go 2t. 8/10 guys that ride any vet race are on a 450. i raced a few events last year on my cr250 and can tell you first hand that displacement sucks. tracks like glen helen, hangtown, honey lake etc.. a 450 will eat up a 250 and thats just common sense. so i just dont know what to do. i want to man up and go full time 2t but at the int level and having to race against 450's i will never see a podium. so this is where i ask myself why? why do i even do this? is it for fun? or is it to win? well im at a point where i want to answer yes to both and i have a new reason, to prove a point. to prove that the 2t can hang with the 4turds.

so here is how im breaking this down in my head. 1 i need a new bike 2010 2. i am bored with the 450 and want to race 2t. 3. if i choose to i can ride the 250 class but will still be at disadvantage in the vet class. 4. i tired of having multiple bikes and paying to maintain them all. 5. im sick of adjusting valves, lol.

so what do you all think of my situation? im just looking for other opinions from current racers. i know what a 2t is all about i ride and own them but is it worth it to handicap myself. its not cheap to race and the feel of winning is sort of payback.

so.. im thinking yz250 ktm 250sx. im leaning toward the yz because my mechanic i ride for is a master of that bike and the cost of parts will be cheaper and more readilly available.

help me get my head on striaght here.

« on: January 02, 2010, 10:19:34 PM »
me and my buddy decided to go and battle it out today on are 01 cr's. i just got the suspension dialed in and decided to put it to the test today at my local track. now if you all dont know i do race 450's and i save my 2t for the woods, it was great today i was passing people, trippled everything and even my coach, Jeff Pestana, was there and told me, "dang dude your killing it on the smoker" had a blast, im the second half with white plates no numbers. we tryed to get some sound in but it got drowned out by the thumpers, sorry. all i can say is i soon will be full time 2t, might not be this year but soon.
