...when you look out your front and back door?AKA,what's going on in your part of the world right now?
TMKIWIS post of the temp down under just got me thinking-as well,I tend to be curious about where other biking types live and the country/conditions as compared to my own.
Anyhoo,in my case-white hell...

front

back

I might add as well, since this picture was taken the wind has picked up to about 30-40 km so it's blowing around and filling in my freshly blown out driveway. The temp is sitting at a balmy -18 C or -3 F.
Brrrrrrrr.Come on spring.........

Technical / RZ 350 riddle
« on: January 24, 2011, 03:55:36 AM »
Ok, a little background first.
Way back when I bought a new RZ.For those that don't know,it's a 2t twin street bike with dual carbs. It's one downside was a lack of range(about 110 km)and, having an urge to do a little traveling,I sold it and bought a 750 Interceptor.
After I got that out of my system,I had an urge for another RZ and found a used one for sale with a freshly rebuilt engine for a super good deal.Usually, that would set the alarm bells ringing but the guy had taken the engine out and sent it to the shop I buy my parts from so I had no doubt the rebuild was done correctly.
Upon arrival,I checked it over then snapped the choke on and it started first kick.Given that the price was about half what it should be,I took a chance and bought it.
On the way home,it was running so super rich it wanted to stall at anything under about 1/3 throttle so I had to pull the clutch in and keep the revs up just to keep it going.
Above that throttle opening,it would go like a scalded cat.
Once I got home, the solution came after about ten minutes of sitting on the step slurping a brew and staring at it(beer = brain power)
Once fixed,it then created another problem that I'll get into later if anyone gets this.
Both fixes came quickly but in truth, only because I was intimately familiar with the RZ's set up due to my first one.Had this not been the case,it would have been much more of a head scratcher.
Anyone..........

Cabin fever has set in.For those not familiar with the term,it comes from being snowed in all winter and apparently, the isolation causes odd mental issues. Those suffering are said to retreat to their backyard sheds for long periods, forsake washing, shaving etc while mumbling incoherently about their motorcycular projects that will revolutionize the industry.Poor Sachs,I hope it warms up soon-one can only wonder about the name.....

Yeah,I know it's fourstroke but I stuck it up anyway as someone was talking about track kits a while back.If you click on the highlighted yellow text after some of the pics there are some pretty good vids-especially the "I'm a happy man" at the end.As well there are some links etc to other track set ups in various replies to the op's thread. So there.

General Two Stroke Talk / Riddle me this....
« on: October 26, 2010, 06:01:16 PM »
I've read various time on here people complaining about Yamaha selling their 2t's with only bng and repetitive use of the term "old technology".I'm not trying to defend them and would love to see an update but what exactly is old tech about them? The fuel delivery system?Everything else is current.
At the same time, when the link to the new TM's is posted, everyone goes nuts about them.Granted,I'd love to have one myself but where is the "new tech" in a TM that Yamaha lacks?

Non-Moto / Edision and The Invention of the Light Bulb
« on: October 20, 2010, 03:54:08 PM »
Canada is well known for it's contribution to the advancement of technical excellence  ;) :o

Now there's something I forgot. The light bulb was invented by a Canadian, who then sold the rights to Edison who, naturally, took credit for the invention-the patent says different though.Anyhoo, just think-if not for a Canadian, you Kiwi's would be even more in the dark than you are now-if that's possible :D ;)
