Open Forum / The great glove hunt ends.

After long goobering together my old sinisalos and trying-and buying- numerous others, I've finally found a replacement. These days,it seems every glove you buy is about the same thickness with about the same protection as the Queen of Englands white dress gloves.
What I've found is supposed to be a work glove but must have been designed by a biker.According to our local snap on dealer, they're being snatched up by all his off road customers.
The have good palm padding but separated enough not to bunch.Rubber/plastic finger protection on top with good grip on the fingers. It even has a hard plastic knuckle protector built in similar to a knee cup or elbow guard. It's attached on three sides but open on the back and padded underneath so it floats over your knuckles and doesn't interfere whatsoever when you extend your hand to the clutch or brake.Super comfy and protective.Even better, being on the receiving end of one during the inevitable after race "conversation" will be a bad place to be.
Available in various colors.Typically as in all bike gloves the sizes seem to run small.I have medium hands and measure 7.5" from the base of my palm to the tip of my F.U. finger and take an XL.
I paid 50 CDN and I see they're 56 here so probably about 7 cane toad hides + 3 roo teeth in NZ/AUS currency.  :D

Remember, you read it here first-or 5/8 of it anyway. :D

Oh yeah, and in 2005, "wobbling at high speed is reduced by carefully shaped intake ports" I think the Kawi engineers may be on to something.......   ;)
I think the whole 2005 article is my favorite  :D

So you think you're tough do you? I wonder what it would be like to ride some of the 50's and 60's bikes in a race like this :o

« on: March 19, 2011, 03:04:57 PM »'s good enough for me.

The snow is starting to melt away here and fishing season opens April 1st.The fly tying bench has been smoking lately-my daughter figures it's a useless attempt to outfish her and her rapalas, crankbaits, plastic thingies etc. :D The question is,does anyone else here tie and if so,what patterns are your favorites for what species?

...and had to have a Maico(for some odd reason),I like this.My first street bike was a Kawi triple so I expect bottom end in tight woods would be nothing great but once you got it wound up-woo,hoo 8)

.....what would you take from each to make your ideal bike. For instance,in my case......

I'd take the chassis of my 99 RM 125 mated to the engine of my 2002 KTM125SX.Along with that,I'd have a toggle on the bars so I could instantly change the engine characteristics to that of my present 2002 YZ250 for torque situations. Also,as much as I may hate to admit it(nah, not really)I'd have another switch to change the engine to that of my 2005 Husaberg FE550 for big power situations.I realize a 500 2t would suit the bill but as I said-bikes you've actually owned-not wanted or just ridden.Besides,55 hp,6spd,160 kph top speed IS fun on a dirt bike at times-regardless of engine configuration. :)

Now I just need  to figure out the build :D
