Hey Don, did you cut the side number plates on them to make them  look more modern? I did it on my bike.

You would have to run the stock 500 pipe because the pipe has back pressure setup for the 500. If you put a 250 pipe on it, it wouldn't have enough back pressure.

Non-Moto / trail riding yz80

Honestly you won't be able to get much torque, if any at all, out of a yz80. Is it jetted right?

Would you say it is good for woods? The 144 has more bottom end then the 125, even after porting it for mid/top right? Did you adjust the sprocket ratio? Also, does it take longer to get up to the powerband? Sorry for all the questions, interested in it for my rm  :) Btw, bike looks very nice  ;)

Technical / 1982 RM80 Carb issues
« on: May 07, 2013, 12:45:00 AM »
Ok thanks we didn't even have the air filter in  :-[ :P Would that be the issue with the idle? And for the floats, should we replace the float valve AND the floats, or just the float valve?

Thanks for the help guys.  :)

Technical / 1982 RM80 Carb issues
« on: May 06, 2013, 02:47:27 AM »
Hey I'm helping one of my friends do a 1982 rm80 project. I know it's a mikuni carb and it's the stock one. I took it apart and the floats and everything looked fine. It had a 180 main jet on it. We put the carb on, turned the pet**** on and it started leaking out of the floatbowl overflow hose. We got it started and it idles really high and you give it about 1/8th throttle and it revs WAY up. Does anyone have any idea what the issue is? It sat for 15 years indoors before he got it. When I took it apart I didn't adjust anything, just cleaned all the  sand out of it. Any help is appreciated.  :)

Somewhere I heard that the old chain on new sprockets will make the sprockets wear 20% faster... Just an unreliable statistic but true
