General Two Stroke Talk / EMX 300 race report Russia
« on: May 02, 2018, 01:53:12 PM »

In EMX300 presented by FMF Racing on Monday’s Race 1 A1M’s Andero Lusbo took the lead from the first lap and stayed in the premier position each of the 17 remaining. Behind Lusbo was GL12 Racing’s Mike Kras until lap 7 when defending champion Brad Anderson, on his Verde Substance KTM, took the position.

Vaclav Kovar from the Czech Republic started 4th but moved around Kras at the same time as Anderson and then continued forward to pass Anderson 4 laps later.

Kras later dropped another position before the finish to Erik Willems from Belgium. Fellow Belgian Greg Smets who came to Russia second in the standings was unable to start race 1, and scored zero points.

Today’s Race 2 was exactly what Verde Substance KTM’s Brad Anderson was looking for when he took the lead early and lead every lap of the race ahead of his 2017 championship rival, Mike Kras. Vaclav Kovar again moved forward from a subpar start and this time finished 3rd.

Race 1 winner Andero Lusbo ran 4th the majority of the race through to the finish. In the overall classification Brad Anderson took his first win of the 2018 season over Lusbo and Kovar. Mike Kras finished 4th overall but still maintains the red plate and leads the championship before over Anderson as the series heads to Great Britain.

General Two Stroke Talk / racer x race report The Wick 338 NESC opener
« on: April 11, 2018, 05:45:39 AM »

So what do you do after your Annual doctor visit reveals you have 3 hernias? You go racing, that's what ya do!

Well with surgery scheduled for the 10th of April and the NESC opener 2 days before, it was a no brainer. Get some seat time before you miss part of your racing calendar due to recovery time. Now I am not big on NESC racing any longer (now a certified super evo racer) it was good to see some of my best friends when it comes to racing, if i can only convince them to buy vintage bikes...

Franky's bike, could use chain 'n sprockets but he chose graphics instead

Norkys YZED not to be run today, sadly chose a 450

Practice met us with cold temps and a soft track. Rust was still evident when I hit the track and was lucky enough to chase my friend Gino around and have a wick "sand"wich, courtesy of Gino's rear wheel, for breakfast.
Gino and his Honda, don't worry he also has a 90 KX 500

45 open motos:
moto1- flubbed start, last into turn 1, got into 14th by end of start lap and chased Margiasso on his yzed 250 and
followed him through the 976 of fanning a couple turns from the finish for P13
moto2- better jump, eaten up by larger bikes into turn 1, end of start lap P12, battled passed Hammann on his
           SX250 For P11

40+B motos:
Moto1- bike bogged almost to a stall off gate, last in turn 1, end of start lap P8, battled past the 94 of Comeau for
           P7
Moto2-Good jump (finally)and in the mix through turn 1, by end of start lap was P5, Battled past Hammann's 117
           SX 250 and Geeleher's 433 Katoom for P3

So to sum it up, a satisfying  end to an awesome day! some physical and bike issues that need sorted, but thats racing!

General Two Stroke Talk / Practice track diaries The Wick 338 03/25/18
« on: March 26, 2018, 04:26:41 PM »
Second Bike training session of the year took place at my favorite track, The Wick 338. The week leading up to the OP was not promising as the northeast was predicted to be hammered with a spring nor'easter, with the temps barely above freezing it had all the makings of cancellation as the first OP the week before was due to another nor'easter dumping lots of snow on we yanks. Thankfully the storm was a dud and the wick was open for business! It was another chance to shake off the ring rust and also break in my new Gaerne boots. The early morning was met with snow flurries and overcast skies, by the time we arrived at the track the sun was shinning and the temps rose quickly to a comfortable 40 something degrees. Track was roughing up quickly due to the mass of riders descending on the circuit, good training for sure. After 4 sessions, I had recaptured the mere mediocrity I have possessed in the past. Things are looking good! My son made his return to the track after a modest 2 year absence and my buddy Paul was there to to share stories and generally crack me up. Video review of boots to come...

The weapons and the 311 checking out the hot chicks next door:

You know its been a long winta when we yanks store our pick me ups in the shitta:

General Two Stroke Talk / Practice track diaries: Wareham mx preseason 2018
« on: February 25, 2018, 01:14:44 PM »
Well, it has to start at some point and Saturday was the day. Flash back to last year this time, I was feverishly working to assemble my 1990 KTM MX250 before my new foray into into mostly vintage racing were to begin. I sacrificed much needed Physical training and mental prep as the bike resisted every effort of me to restore it. It was just a laundry list of things that kept me tearing the motor apart and rebuilding it, with the final straw coming when she grenaded  at Evansville MX in PA. This year I've added another Honda 125 (1993 Doug Henry model) to the fleet so I know it will last and not be such a large transition from one bike to another. I've been training consistently, modified my diet and the girls are rip ready. So with a break in the New England weather I jumped at the opportunity to begin on bike training. Wareham Is relatively a deep sand track (deeper then the wick in most areas) nestled among several cranberry bogs on the MA cape.
