Riding Spots / Northern Illinois Riders

I ride FVOR all the time, including all their Hare Scrambles.  Bushy Ridge is good, but it is a haul...if I am going to drive 5+ hours to ride, it is going to be to Mid Michigan to the Baldwin area....endless trails that can be ridden as one loop or multipul loops(all for only $16.25)

I didn't snap any of the rest of the pile of parts, but I will tell you, they were junk!!!

For Sale / Looking for a CR125 roller in the midwest
« on: October 13, 2010, 04:48:24 AM »
I am looking to pick up a late model CR125 rolling chassis for a new conversion project.  I recently picked up a '84 XR200R, and want to send both bikes to AJ over at Service for a new hybred model.  Please let me know if anyone comes across one

wash the bike with soapy water, force air dry, spray with break clean, then use whatever chain oil/wax that you choose

Make sure there's not a plug over the hole. I am not familiar with the newer KX's but know Kawasaki in the past put black rubber plugs in the holes to keep them clean.

that is true, there should be eight a black or grey plastic plug that you'll need to remove to access the clicker

I had a GPR on my KTM 250XC a couple of years back, I liked it, but it needed a rebuild within the 1st 6 months on the bike(GPR would have done it for free, but I sold the bike)

If they're any sort of modified to race on a professional level, I'd put them at a lot more than $40K.  And I thought my dad's garage had a lot of money sitting in it!

just talking about purchase price......

Vintage Two Strokes / Re: 1981 Yamaha YZ250
« on: October 08, 2010, 03:05:20 PM »
I am the title sponsor for the Midwest VMX Series, which host races for both vintage and modern bike in the Midwest.  The are a ton of old *cool* iron bike left out there.  A good freind of mine just purchased a 81 YZ250, brought it home, rode it around the yard, then raced it the very next day(30 minute moto's +1 lap) and won on it!  Our races have a good mix of vintage, post vintage, EVO, and Revo bikes.  The cool thing about vintage racing is that everyone is there to have FUN!!!!  I have only raced the modern classes the past 2 years(won 2 class championships last year, and going to finish 2nd in both classes this year), but I recently bought some old iron as well.  I plan on have my mechanic go thru the bike top to bottom over the winter, then race both modern & vintage next year.

if anyone on here is from IL, IA, MO, WI, or MI....you should come check us out next year(or tomorrow at Sunset Ridge MX, our last race of 2010)

General Two Stroke Talk / Re: Wear those shirts!
« on: October 08, 2010, 02:49:14 PM »

that's good stuff!  I have always regretted not pushing myself while I had the oppertunaty growing up.  Once I was comfortable in my career, I made a point of taking every advantage I could to learn.  I would take a class here and there at the local CC, but I haven't done so in a couple of years.  I have a bug in my ass again, and am looking to start up again this coming winter semester.  If you're not learning, you're burning!

That boggles my mind...that is a lot of money sitting there.

6 race bike of various years=$40k or so...and that doesn't include meltdowns or catastrophic engine failures :o
