I guess I'm just old. One of the best examples of this is the Carmichael Vid in this forum. Windham & those boys never got physical in passing. But I've been racing since the 70's and I see the change.

That was a sweet vid. But damn, racing nowadays is "how to take him out" rather than "skill to get around him."

Kids today need to race flat track. They'll learn real quick not to hit he guy next to you.

Technical / 03 kx125 carb issues.
« on: December 16, 2012, 01:14:25 PM »
Having major issues with this carb. Setting the float height has me pulling hair, tossing dammit-wrenches etc, etc.

Following the manual, I set it at 9.5mm. No fuel comes out. Set it at 9mm, it leans out by yhe 3rd hit of the throttle. Set it at 8.5 runs pretty good but then fuel runs out after bike is shut off.

The I did some research and found on jets-r-us site that TMX38 (late model) the float height is 6-7mm.  Huh, well I'll let you guess how much fuel cam rushing out.  :o

Anyone have any ideas??

Many tire stores are now carrying Nitrogen and will charge your shock.

I've tried 2 places so far and the highest either machine could push is 90psi. I need 142. I have one more place to try. Gonna go there this week and try.

Please no arguments.... just personal experiences. :)
But my question is, How many are able to get Nitrogen for their rear shocks? I'm stuck using air. Since my compressor goes up to 175psi, I can easily hit he 142psi the shock requires. I just can't bring my self to get the Motion Pro tool for $350+, not including the cost of a small tank and regulator...another $200.
Also, your dealings with the oils. What have you found to be good. I use Amsoil Shock therapy mostly or Silkolene. Right now, in a pinch, I put maxima in the 250 rear shock.

How often do you change the oils? I do mine about every 4 months or so on the boys 125 and 250.

Heal clicker at 4:30 LOL

That track looks kinda sucky though. It looks almost like a single track course. I think there's more places to pass in the woods than there. But he

Technical / What replacement clutch for my 2003 RM250?
« on: December 09, 2012, 09:32:47 PM »
Have any idea on to why i always have to change tension on my clutch? every 40 minutes or so, and its a drastic change
The plates begin to swell when they get hot. Usually from cheap plates. Tusk and other cheap brands are notorious for that. I run EBC and love them. I tried a cheaper brand once in a pinch, after the first moto, the boy was fuming. And he very rarely even uses the clutch. So we made it through that day and that night an order was put in for EBCs.

As for baskets, I try to find deals on the Moose. Very strong units and much cheaper than Barnett or Hinson. Check ebay, there's usually a few Moose on there.

I have to agree with RM250guy, I replaced the Perch & lever with a Sunline and a new Motion Pro Terminator cable. World of difference from the stock with a MP cable

General Two Stroke Talk / TSM 2005 KX 125 Budget Build
« on: March 04, 2013, 04:13:36 PM »
UGHHHHH! now you had to go and do it. Hopefully my son stays on Halo4 for awhile. He's been buggin me on doing his 03 for 2 yrs now. Just not in the budget right now. AAANNNDDDD, you had to mention getting the frame PC'd green too.

See white plastics would be cool. Like I said on FB, good luck getting UFO to ship them in.

BTW, I hope the $2g is including the cost of the bike as well.

Please expalin to ME how it was "set up" for the Americans to lose. IDK, maybe the euros were racing on a different surface or track. Everyone rode the same track. Also, to say that maybe it had tot do with the sand???? Uh, when was the last time you looked at Daytona's track or Washougal?

Just because we're the U.S. doesn't mean we're the greatest ever...(Except in military superiority).

Everyone raced the same track, same day. 1 winner, congrats to him.

Technical / carb sputter...at a loss here.
« on: June 10, 2012, 07:16:38 PM »
Vintage, You...a smartass??? Noooo. LOL
I've never, ever had to shut off the fuel with a bike just sitting there. Now when it's being transported, yes. But even then I only lose just a few drops in the trailer, truck, etc on any of my bikes if we forget to shut off the fuel.

Sachs, yes, I checked it very closely.

TP, We ave V-force as well and I checked the reeds as we were putting it back together. They looked new and still fit tight to the box. Either way, I still need to get these floats right now that I moved them around. I think I'm gonna fab up my own level gauge from the bowl. It's supposed to be 10mm above the bowl mating surface.

UHHHGGGGGG!!!!!

latest update:
Set everything Friday night. The best I can get it to run with just a very slight sputter, no go lean and just totally rip when on the pipe, the floats were set to 8mm. Pulled it up in the trailer, put it up on the stand, checked it all over. Looked great, ran great. Came out Sat. morning...there's a nice big wet spot on my blacktop driveway. A half tank of fuel worth that ate right into it.

Dropped the ramp and it hit me. That beautiful smell of race fuel. But not how I wanted to smell it...soaked into my trailer floor.

So, here's heres what I've encountered so far:
9.5mm-no fuel, 9mm- very little fuel, 8.5-runs lean/out of fuel, 8mm runs good = leaks fuel.

So now what??
