General Two Stroke Talk / mxa 2t vs 4t
« on: March 09, 2013, 10:57:39 PM »
I believe they didn't include the 150(which is still a 144), in the article because of AMA rules of racing. Many of the classes limit the 125 to 125. Not 144. Besides, don't you know a 144 vs 250 4t is cheating.   :P

Thank you for wishes & prayers. Doc came in this morning and had pn tube removed. That the tube up nose to stomach to drain what's in stomach. That a good sign. He ordered her to begin getting out of bed this afternoon to sit in a chair at least once. So, things are looking better. I'm hoping she's released from ICU today.

Yesterday my daughter was hit in the back by another rider. It was over top of a hill and she got stuck behind another kid that was stuck in the mud. The other guy come up the hill 3rd pinned, over the top and nothing he could do. He hit her square in the back and he flipped a few times.

She was flown to Kosair.

She is in ICU with a lacerated liver, internal bleeding & fractured wrist. She stabilizing and Doc says she doing better. No surgery right now.
The other guy was ambulated for a concussion.

Needless to say, it was a sucky first day back out riding.

So, many are getting back out as the weather breaks....be careful out there.

Racer x, don't get me wrong, I grew up riding from age 3 until the day I left home for the Army. I was an A rider for 2 years as well. Nowadays, I just like to ride and keep my wheels on the ground. But I get alot of enjoyment watching and training my kids and others.

Yes, I can see where the pay would kinda suck but they get kickback, and alot of it, from sponsors  if the they podium. I know of one rider who won a race and got a $36,000 check from GOPRO because he was sponsored AND was wearing it when he won.

Think about it. Stu made $10M in one year. You know darn well cry-baby Barcia is raking in the $$$,$$$.

Also, Gear, goggles, boots etc are given to alot of the riders.
As an ex-business owner, I was able to afford small things to sponsor racers, it was a tax write-off. A good friend of mine has his own business and sponsored his son and wrote off $27,000. That was bikes, parts, repairs, racing, travel, food and training at MTF.

ok, my question is, How many still doing the big jumps? Or is this regarding more towards woods riding. I love MX but even though I'm 43, my sense of fear has grown alot. I had a real bad crash a few years back and broke both my hips and I was in very good shape, physically, due to still being in the Army.

Unfortunately, I had a 19 yr break without even touching a bike and lost alot of talent on the jumps. But I did race a HS last summer and after the first lap and felt like death warmed over, I got a second wind and could just flat out rip as it all started to come back to me.

There is a member on here, Bigair40, Rodney, who can flat out fly for his age. 47 or 48 this year and can still hang with Ryan & Pooh Sipes, lap for lap. Well, at least for 5 laps anyway. AND he Podiums every year at LL.

General Two Stroke Talk / stewart says bring 2 strokes back
« on: February 21, 2013, 08:56:24 PM »
Yes, 125's are fun. But even me, who don't ride much anymore, I just watch the kids go round and round. But when I do, a 125 just doesn't have it for me & I don't even jump anymore. Granted I love riding ours and it's a blast. But the 250 just gives the feel of raw, arm pumping, neck-snapping, seat-of-the-pants feel vs a 125. But my son is the same way. He loves riding the 125 to play on because it feels 100lbs lighter and he can really rip on it. But in a race, he wants the 250. He doesn't have to rely on sweeping a turn perfect and full bore to keep up his speed to pass someone. He can take the inside and have the power rip out of it. That's where the 4T 250 has the major advantage & why it's BS to put 125's against them in lites and say they're comparable. Like I keep saying, A 250 is a 250 is a 250. I also don't believe the CRF150 should be allowed in the mini or supermini classes.

It's like driving my truck then getting in my wifes DD. Her little 4 banger just doesn't have it. Until I get her other car done. 450hp is gonna be nice  :D

General Two Stroke Talk / stewart says bring 2 strokes back

I think it's the riders who ahve ridden 2 strokes are getting older and wiser that realize the 2 strokes are just plain FUN to ride.

Now as far as Kim's post about the 125 (nothing personal). I really can't see any of them riding a 125 because there just isn't enough power to really give them a rush. They would literally twist the grip off or break the cable trying to go faster. But a 250 would be enough for them to have fun and a well built 250 would provide more than enough for them to compete with a 4T.

Besides, it's more fun to be wide open, ripping than lugging up through the powerband.

IMHO, screw thumpers. They make you lazy.

General Two Stroke Talk / Is it me or have we slowed down a bit??
« on: February 13, 2013, 04:01:14 PM »
TSM was booming for awhile but it seems as traffic slowed a bit. It seems weird because more and more 2T's are showing up in the real world. CL is covered in thumpers wanting to trade for 2T's and alot of my sons friends are getting 2T's. We're spreading the word about TSM though. Guess we need to start having 2 stroke meets all over the US.

125's are almost impossible to find anymore and 250's are worth more than 250/450 thumpers.

You first have to have a host such as photobucket. com. Make an account there, upload your photos and copy/paste the "[img]" link to post a photo onto a site. If you use the older version of photobucket, it'll give you a drop down as you scroll over a pic. IMG will be the bottom link. The new version doesn't. PB will ask you if you want to use the original version or new version. New version sux.

Open Forum / TSM Stickers/banners??
« on: January 02, 2013, 07:38:28 PM »
Not sure if they were ever offered or made, but I was wondering.

Charles, have you ever had any made? I was thinking maybe some TSM in a oval for fenders. etc.

Some full length Two Stroke Motocross stickers, 6 & 12 " long. But I would love a banner for the rear window or windshield for the truck. Those could be made on order. That's what I did when I had my shop. I had a speed shop and sponsored a few drag racers. The small stickers I had made in bulk, Specialty stuff was order by request.

We would give away the cheap vinyl stickers at the track or in the shop. But the good 1.5 mil were earned or bought. Color ain't cheap, though.

Technical / 03 kx125 carb issues.
« on: December 30, 2012, 01:37:58 PM »
I think I got it 95% fixed.
Turns out the tab on the float that rides in the needle seat had a small wear dimple in it and was causing the pin on the needle seat to stick and not properly slide on it. So I cleaned it up and polished it with a dremel tool.

Don't ask me why or how but for some reason, the choke stated working properly too. (staying up) It NEVER stayed up on it's own. Now it clicks and stays up.

I made my own float height guage from some thin cardboard from a breakfast bar box and a dial caliper. I set the floats at 9.3mm. So far it doesn't over-flow & doesn't lean out. But with it being cold and snowy, I tried to ride it around and the cold oil in the trans was causing the clutch to slip real bad. So I'll wait until a nicer day or wait until we hit the indoor track and let the boy flog it and do some tuning then.

What I liked the most is he was on the gas 1/3 going Into the turn. The 4T's weren't on the gas until they were almost all the way through.
