Glad to hear things may be a little better with your wife racerX.

How hard is it finding parts for those earlier KTMs?  I see some good deals from time to time but I always worry about parts.

--Ron.

Back around 2005 I had an '86 MX250 that the CDI went bad. They were no longer available and at that time nobody sold an aftermarket one. I bought two on eBay and both were bad also, the sellers refunded my money and told me to throw them out both times. I actually threw the bike out on county cleanup day out of frustration. I also had an '84 MX125 and could not get lower crank bearings. Luckily I was able to cross reference them to a CR80 big wheel and was able to rebuild it. That was a very fast 125.

Hey, Coop, what part of Texas are you in?

Nanci and I are thinking Texas may be in our future. We took a trip down and really liked the Tyler/Longview area.

There are so many tracks and the dirt, ah the dirt!

We are about an hour NW of DFW in a town called Springtown. Very nice, DFW is heavily congested with all the expansion. But we love this are for sure, we are out in the country kind of. We have a few tracks close. I am actually consider getting into vintage MX if I get through this cancer mess ("upgraded" to stage 4 last week because it spread to bone in my left shoulder).

I missed this some how. Hope everyone had a good one.

It's just me and my wife here in Texas, but we always did stay home on New Years Eve, too many drunks out. She cooked and we watched two movies. We were going to work on a Star Wars puzzle but I wasn't feeling great so we went to bed at about 11 CST.

General Two Stroke Talk / Merry Christmas!
« on: December 23, 2018, 12:31:30 PM »
It's been a tough year for many of us. Whether it's health issues, financial issues, family issues...find something to be grateful for and please have a wonderful Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Happy New Year!

Anybody have any plans? It's just my wife and I and after a painful bone biopsy on my left shoulder this past Tuesday (18th) and a second surgery removing more lymph nodes and a tumor on my left groin that same day, my mobility is VERY low. So she is making some good food, and we are going to video chat with family in PA while we eat, drink, and be merry :) .

My brother was pro at using the wrong fastener. When I disassembled my '77 XR75 earlier this year I pretty much threw everything in the garbage and started over haha. Thank goodness for hardware kits. Carriage bolts for engine mounts, lag bolt in the seat, it was a wreck. He worked on this bike when I was kid before I learned to do it myself. I guess I should be grateful he kept it rolling for me :) .

Thanks Ron, I will be OK. I wont have much to report on next year as I plan on focusing on Home matters, but look out 2020!

I am glad you are keeping a positive attitude. Don't be afraid to vent on us here if you need to man.

Unfortunately I am currently bike-less other than my 1977 XR75 (I got it in 1979, my first bike) I restored last year before I got sick. Have fun with those projects, sounds like some good ones!

Hmmm...well I know on the XT (and on the 125 that I rode at the ride day) I can pretty much flat foot them with my boots on and I'm 5'9"...sooooo, not sure if she can put both feet down maybe with the low seat and some suspension mods.  Platform boots???  ::)

Haha yeah maybe. On every bike she has owned I have to lower them with links, cut down the seat, remove the seat bumpers, etc., because she insists she has to touch both feet.  We haven't tried KISS style platform boots though :) .

Coop how tall is she?  Some of the bikes have shorter seat heights and there are low seats available too.  They are really popular among the shorter riders :)

5'2" I think.

My wife wanted the 125 dual sport until she saw the seat height. She is short and refuses to side straddle a bike to touch the ground.

Sad day, I sold this PE project today. A local guy offered me $400 and it is a basket case at this point. Plus that was $300 more than I paid for it. Medical crap is expensive and I am on unpaid sick leave. My wife says when I get my NED diagnosis next year I can buy a brand new 2T to celebrate so it was a good trade off :) .
