For Sale / 1994 KX60 SOLD
« on: February 17, 2011, 05:27:33 AM »
I have a 1994 KX60 I bought as a project bike for my nephew last winter. The bike has been completely rebuilt; new crank, new main seals and bearings, new piston and rings, all new gaskets, new chain, new shift lever, etc. The frame and swingarm were stripped and painted, the bike has an aftermarket Works Performance shock, Pro Circuit pipe and silencer (original included). The only "bad" is it is missing a few spokes in the rear wheel so it wobbles a little. I ran out of money plus it was too fast and scared my nephew so he only rode it three (3) times around a field. It is really a pretty nice bike and can be ridden as is. It is NOT for beginners. Nick moved up from a PW50 that he was really abusing and I thought he was ready. But this bike is FAST. It almost looped in second with me on it, and I weigh 200#'s LOL.

I have all the receipts and have over $700 in this bike including what I paid. I am only asking $375 though because of the rear wheel issue. The only trade I will consider is a two stroke 125 (or bigger) project bike. And price is pretty firm.

I should also ad the bars have been change since most of the pics were taken, it's hard to see in the pictures.

Here is a link to the slideshow of all the work I did do it:

Riding Spots / District 5 Hare Scrambles
« on: January 13, 2011, 01:00:21 PM »
A few guys I know are thinking about running some HS's in District 5 this year. If my back is up to I am considering trying some (but that is a big if). If I can't ride I hope to be at a couple just for "support".

Here is a link to the schedule for anyone curious/interested:

For Sale / WTB: 1-1/8" bar mounts
« on: January 11, 2011, 12:28:16 PM »
A friend of mine is giving me some bars for my KDX, but they 1-1/8". So I need some mounts. I don't care if they are the whole mounts that bolt through the triple, or those adapters. I also don't care if they are off a different brand, I am pretty good and making parts work  :) . I know places to buy them new, but I figured I'd check around for used ones first since I am always on a tight budget.

For Sale / Maico 250...NOT MINE
« on: January 03, 2011, 08:33:59 AM »
I saw this on my local c'list and thought maybe someone here might be interested. It is not mine and don't know the seller:

http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/mcy/2141122945.html

"I have a 1978 Maico 250 bike for restoration. The bike runs and shifts throught the gears with out any issues. The brakes and suspension also work fine with out any leaks. The following items are missing left foot peg, kicker side panels, and grips. The two following items will need replaced or fixed, the kicker shaft and the head pipe. This bike is beening offered as a bike to restore and it wouldn't take much to do. Give me a call at 724-454-0670 and ask for Rick. $950"

General Two Stroke Talk / KX500 vs KX450F
« on: October 26, 2010, 04:43:59 AM »
This article reads more like just a press release about "improved' the 450F is, but I figured I'd post it here anyway for discussion:

General Two Stroke Talk / Wear those shirts!
« on: October 04, 2010, 09:41:08 AM »
As some of you know (most don't I am sure) I am an adult student back in college. Anyway there is a student that sits in front of me named Jason Stout. He races locally, plus this weekend he will be in SC for a race? Today he noticed my "Return of the Two Stroke" shirt. He asked what it said, so I opened my Thor hoodie and he goes (outloud in class) "Dude that is a bitchin' shirt!" LOL. After class he told me he has three 450's but is thinking he'd like to go back to 2T's. So I did my best hard sell. Not sure I convinced him but he is considering it for sure  :D :D .

Technical / Hey electrical gurus...
« on: October 02, 2010, 04:39:08 PM »
I admit electrical has always been my weak link when it comes to bikes. It's one reason I decided to take EE as a major because I really want to understand it better.

Anyway my 2003 KDX200 has a push button switch for the headlights. If you push it in, it clicks and the headlight and tail light work (now that I put new bulbs in). But it won't return back out, you have to grab it and pull it out. Then it will click and the lights go out.

So my questions is, could this just be dirty and something that can be cleaned, or does it sound like the switch is bad?

Non-Moto / New bike in the garage...
« on: September 23, 2010, 02:10:59 PM »
Brought home the 2003 KDX200 today. After just a quick spin on it once I got it home I realized I am going to like it a lot better than the 125. Needs some tinkering and maintenance but nothing major. Most of it is stuff I do anyway when I first buy a bike. I did manage to already break the ball off the clutch lever already when I tried to straighten it. Bent levers really annoy me LOL.

General Two Stroke Talk / Bitter sweet...
« on: September 22, 2010, 12:59:05 PM »
I always have mixed emotions after selling a bike. My oldest nephew decided he wants a quad not a bike (egad!!) so I listed my 1988 KX125 yesterday for $500 firm. It sold to the first guy that came today to look at it. Guess I should have asked more, lol. Anyway now I can definitely go tomorrow and pick up the 2003 KDX200. But that old 125 was such a fun bike to ride I was sad to see it go. If I kept it though I would have 6 bikes in the garage. After today I have a 2007 Suzuki GZ250 (wifes), 2003 BMW F650GS (mine), 1997 CR80Expert (nephew), 1994 KX60 (nephew). After tomorrow evening a 2003 KDX200 will be joining the stable and 5 bikes is about all I can squeeze in there plus my wife's car once it starts snowing. So the KX had to go.  :(

Anyone else ever feel like this after selling a bike?
