Dude, you'll be primetime for the nationals at 27.  Keep at it.

I'm curious, do you remember how much a brand new 1985 yz 125 was?

That is an amazing video!

Some great footage of jumping two-strokes... you left some pinger sounds in there so folks can hear that sweet noise.

Did you ask why the switch to the four-stroke? Or any questions about FMX riders using them?

Not that I would expect them to say it while on camera, but just curious if it was brought up.

Thanks!

Thank You!

Jeremy, along with Nate Adams used to get bikes from Yamaha. When Yamaha didnt offer them free bikes, Nate went out and bought his own YZ250's, while Jeremy hooked up Kawasaki's through his agent (who happens to be Ryan Villopoto's agent as well) so thats why he's on the 4-stroke now.  His 450 is dialed in with factory Kawasaki parts and ignition mapping though, and he told me he doesnt miss his 2-stroke.  Sucks because I liked him on the YZ250.

At least it's still Robbie Maddison's ride though... and man did his YZ sound good that day, running a high compression head, race gas, and jetted... it sounded razor sharp as you can probably tell a bit from the video when he's doing those big turn back whips.

race tech springs .46 front, 5.2 rear

So you went up from the stock 0.43 and 4.9 springs?  Damn, thats stiff.  Isnt that 3 levels up on both ends?  I know MXA recommended a 5.0 spring for riders over 200ibs.... I cant imagine a 5.2 rear.

Sometimes finding new stuff takes time, but if you come across something please send it to me.

- Writing
Do you have a knack for writing? Do you love two-strokes? How would you like to write some of the stories that go on the site? How about writing your own monthly (or weekly!!) column?

Hmmmmmm.

Dont do it... It'll turn an ugly yellow in time like the 85 - 94 tanks did.

Watched the USGP in the weekend. Go BT ;D

Great track with some decent hills  ;D
My question is what would the lap times of a 250 smoker be ?
With such big hills would they leave a 250F for dead or are the lap times similar ?
Any one with knowledge of the track know the lap times of the different bikes ? 125 250F 250 450F

Not sure about specific lap times but I can say with confidence that a 250 2-stroke wouldnt leave a 250F for dead, even with all the hills... It might pull ever so slightly up the hills where horsepower is king, but overall a fast rough track like that would favor a 4-stroke, and it would be a lot more work to race a 2-stroke against the 4-strokes there.

Just think Ryan Villopoto smoking the world around the hilly Budds Creek course on his 250F... A slight horsepower disadvantage doesnt mean a 250F is going to be left for dead.

Didn't Ohlins make a 360 cc kit for the YZ250 at one time?

Not sure if it was Ohlins, but yes... Hung out with Mickey Dymond back in 1989 at DeAnza when he was riding one.  I think they even ran them in the 500 Nats at one point.

2005 YZ's still.  Screw Yamaha.

Not really... The engine, suspension internals, and the front end of the plastics were changed in 2006... Minor refinements in 07-09 including weights savings, wave rotors, different seat cover, etc.  The 2010 was the first model year to come with no changes but the graphics. Definately a better bike now than it was in '05.

6IX:
Although perhaps people are wrong for calling Deegan a fag, but you are 100% wrong in saying that a four stroke has more power. If that were the case, there would be 125cc four strokes beating 125cc two strokes. They had to build a four stroke with double the dicplacement to compete with a two stroke. It it a fact that a 250 two stroke has about ten more hp than a 250f. Do you see why people may get upset when top athletes in the sport make a false statement and damages the two stroke image even more? Do you really think the four strokes make more power cc for cc? If so, where in the heck did you learn that from?

Save the obvious please.  Bottom line is when it comes down to the choices we riders have today, the a 450 four stroke makes more power than a 250 2-stroke. I dont think its a 'false statement that damages the 2-stroke image even more'.
