General Two Stroke Talk / Pastranna and Bartrum do 125cc Race
« on: October 25, 2010, 07:23:51 AM »
Thought I might share this with some people here.  Travis showed up at a track owned by Robbie Reynard this weekend, and along with Kenny Bartrum, Colt Nichols, and a few others put on one hell of a show.  There was a good 2t showing in all classes and usually near or at the front.

General Two Stroke Talk / The Two Stroke Shop
« on: January 26, 2010, 07:30:21 AM »
I had read this article ,or a similar one, about a year ago so I am sure some of you have seen it or at least heard about it.  I know that it is not a dirt bike but the first two words in our website are TWO STROKE, and these guys are building some amazing two stroke's.  We could all learn something from super bike racing, about how the fat money hungry 4 strokes can take over a beloved 2t sport.

An interview with the shop.

General Two Stroke Talk / The Price of Rice
« on: January 08, 2010, 01:05:20 PM »
There is alot of talk about how "expensive" MX is today because of the "4 stroke technology".  I was wondering if any of you know roughly how much it costs to build a 4t to race spec.  I have read that Jermy McGraths 06 cr250 was $100,000 (i can post the link) but it also claimed that his foot pegs were $3,800.  I do not understand how this can be.  I am curently building a 02 cr250 and am doing (almost) everything under the sun to it and it is only going to cost me <3k for the motor, <1k for suspension, and mabey 1k more in different acessories.  I have found showa A kit forks for <5k, I belive they are 10 new.  So at worst I am seing mabey 20k for a new 2t built to the hilt.

Technical / Bike Build
« on: December 31, 2009, 06:32:39 AM »
Hi all,

I am new to the site, and am in the process of doing a build on a 2002 CR250 that I thought some of you would appreciate.  I was actually considering going to the dark-low power high displacement-side of motocross, even though I love the 2 stroke and absolutely loathe the heavy engine breaking of a four stroke, mainly because I wanted a new bike.  Being away from the sport for about 8 years (the military and cars) and a magazine reader you might say I bought into the hype alittle.  I had picked up this 02 cr about a year ago and it had hardly been ridden there was barley a scuff on the clutch cover, but the stock expansion chamber had a couple holes in it and performance was inconsistent.  Anyway I started talking to my neighbor (Robert Reynard of Reynard Modifications) about doing my suspension and I planed on doing my own engine work having some experience with it from when I was younger and racing alot my father and I had ported and matched the cases on all of my previous bikes.  After talking it over with him for acouple of hours I decided to let someone more expereinced with a case reed motor take the reigns on this one.

For the build.

I am having Reynard work my cylinder case and head, he is also reworking my transmission and will be re-valving and springing my suspension (forks and shock) for me as well.  I have completely tore the bike down and I am replacing the, suspension linkage, swingarm, wheel and head bearings.  I have also scotch brighted the frame, swing arm and linkage (it looks awesome).  As for the parts list, G2 Cam system Throttle, Procircuit Pegs, Works pipe and 304 shorty silencer, Vforce 3i reeds and box, ASV levers, wiseco crank and a YZ piston and a  new set of dunlops.  I am sure I am forgetting something.  I will try and post some pictures later today.
