General Two Stroke Talk / Re: $5,999 New '10 YZ450F Haha

Snow, that is exactly what I was saying.  I have enough money in an 02 that I could have bought a show room  hold-over brand new bike.  I have heard of and seen friends of mine go 100+ hours and 2-3 years without replacing "anything" on their bikes.

Mid summer you could buy a Brand New 2010 YZ450F for 6,200.  There was a dealer at lorettas selling them.  I am getting ready to trade my 2010 in on a 2011 and am only going to get $4,100, I also have a 02 CR that is listed in the classifieds, the dealership is willing to give me 1k on that.  I am hoping to get 2k for it and I have about 6 tied up in it.  Say what you want but the MX market is hurting, bikes are just not worth much no matter the brand or strokes.  I saw another guy on her let his RM with tons of work go for 1,700.  And don't get me started on KTM they want 1-2k more per bike than any of the other brands.

Yeah, I don't know what the deal is.  I guess its just the times, but I will probably be puting it up on ebay next week.  I wish I were more wealthy so I could afford to have a expensive piece of art hanging on my wall in my shop, but the money from this will go a long way toward finishing out the shop.

He was saying that Honda would not let him ride.  I know the knee jerk reaction is to say Honda hates the 2 stroke but... their decision might have been influnced by the fact that Justin Bougle (sp?) who just signed with Geico Honda (Trey's old ride) last week rung his bell pretty bad during practice at Trey's house Thursday.

Is anyone else from this area?

Super Trucker- That is true, Robert actually traded Factory Honda a "race" engine for a set of "works" brakes.  The engine he traded was a practice bike engine, and the brakes he recived were far from works. :)

I actually just used scotch brite pads and a WHOLE lot of elbow grease!  It took me every night for about 2-3 weeks, but I was waiting on parts and for Robert to finish my engine mods so it wasn't like I had anything else going on.  I plan on doing the same thing to my 450 this winter if I still have it.  I live out in the country and it gets pretty boring during the winter, and I am only able to sit in front of the TV so long.

Thought I might share this with some people here.  Travis showed up at a track owned by Robbie Reynard this weekend, and along with Kenny Bartrum, Colt Nichols, and a few others put on one hell of a show.  There was a good 2t showing in all classes and usually near or at the front.

Thanks John,

The shop is 30x40 and I don't know what I would do without it, we have been talking about getting it spray foamed and  adding another 16' on the back of it for a paint booth but It looks like I might have to move soon so... we are kind of on hold right now.

I also wanted to add that I would be willing to meet/deliver up to 4 hours mabey more.  The pictures of it bare frame were taken this past winter, I posted on here as I did the build if some of you remember.

I knew I would catch crap for that, I had never had a tractor before and all these country songs just made me feel like I wasn't a man without one!  :D

It is probably going up for sale as well...

I just leave it on the stand, let it get hot enough where you don't want to touch the cylinder, it should not take but a few min.  He also warns to not let it idle, as this causes flooding and fauling of plugs in a 2-stroke.  I just barely bump the throttle though because it is hard on a engine to rap it out before it is warmed up and expecially before the rings are seated.

This is kind of off subject but.

If I had the time and $ I would use a fluid heater like they do in sprint cars/indy cars/ect... to heat the engine before starting it, you would still have to run it and put it through the heat cycles for break in but it would avoid the cold cylinder starts.  I would think that the factories would be using these on there race teams but I have not seen it.
