General Two Stroke Talk / Re: So what to do with the 125?
« on: August 22, 2018, 06:19:10 PM »
This is not a dead end here, just waiting for cooler weather to come to FL to get back into our season. Appreciate the replies. Also distracted by the 2 650HP two strokes getting added to my toy box. Regardless the 125 is the most exciting engine ever built ever! Should start the tear down mid October and then be able to send out the cylinder and head to Pro Circuit. Kind of old school due to age and they are tried and true. If we get 3 more ponies without making it hard to ride it should be worth it.

I was thinking $1500 to 2000. Gotta hide it from the wife. Along with the new rear end and fuel injection needed for my old car!

General Two Stroke Talk / So what to do with the 125?
« on: July 16, 2018, 08:32:15 PM »
My youngest (now 17) is more interested in the 250's these days. The 125 is never going away. So what do I do? Interested in a build of epic proportions. Think money is no object but not going to waste a penny on anything that doers not add real value. Don't want a "Pro only" powerband that is peaky and hard to ride but willing to sacrifice a little to get some more top end. Me and the boy's know how to punish the poor clutch to make things happen.

So any advice on this? Bike is a 2012. FYI we are talking engine only. More than satisfied with everything else. And no oversize kits. Will always be a 125. After all that's what makes it fun, right? 8)

Claverack is some old school MX. Beware of the huge hole that always develops as you come about 3/4 a ways around. They must fill it with powder so it pops up by end of practice. ;D

Read about this a while ago and finally got off my butt and booked a campground nearby. Not quite Dilla but close to me. Week after nationals end so hoping some big names show up to rile up the contenders.

And yes, this is 2 stroke related because I am waiting for JS7 to say screw it and show up on a 250!!!

Anyone else going?

X, awesome pix. I used to go to Buds sometimes for the same reason, leave winter and drive down to spring. Remember, never jump down that hill like Henry did. Bad JuJu!

Looks like you guys got the perfect weather we always seemed to get. Track looks perfect.

One year one of the top riders went with us from district 34. He bent the steering stem on a CR500 jumping UP a hill. Nice track for us mortals but a site to see when the pro's run it like it's meant to be.

Good $hit.

RM = Amazing handling
YZ = Amazing suspension

Both make a rider better than more power could so bring it on for more choice.

Ya know, a great place to beat your winter blues is Hardrock MX in Ocala FL. That's our "winter" riding spot. You never know who will show up there for winter training. We always seem to miss Pastrana by one weekend. And if it gets too warm for riding we can always go Grouper scooping. :) :) :) :)

Been a long time. Our first ride is Durhamtown November 18th. No big repairs this year so the 125 gets treated to a FMF pipe, PC silencer, and V-Force reed cage. Hope to pick up 2-3 HP. Then again the treat is not so much for the 125, It's for me.

Read to try and name a "Rippa"

Did not know if it was carb or EFI untl today. While it might seem strange that I would not know something like this the reason is that after several CL failures we ended up buying a boat from someone "within the family"' like buying a bike from someone who one of you buddies knew all about the life it lived.

It is a Johnson Oceanmaster with carbs. Little back story. I am the kiss of death to every little outboard I ever had! So I didn't want to "touch my son's engine. Well he ran the tank dry and to get it running used an old tank with ethanol fuel. BIG MESS. It turns out that the big engines are a dream to work on compared to small ones. Drained the 6 bowls and got the good stuff pumped through all. First outboard I ever touched that ran better after I touched it. Maybe the curse is broken! :o :o :o

While 4 strokes do have their place in marine outboards it is still a line of BS on how superior they are. A 200 4S cannot give the performance of a 200 2S. But they won and no more 2S outboards :( :(.

Well a carbed 2 stroke is like an old Detroit Diesel. What was once old and outdated is now prized for it' simplicity and reliability. Kinda like old gas cans that can actually pour gas unlike the eco dooky cans sold today!
