I have only raced 1 woods race ever... I had a good time and enjoyed the challenge, but I went slow.  I have an allergy to trees, so I stick to MX mostly.  Trees are great in the pits to hide from the Texas sun!  Have fun on your ride tomorrow.

FactoryX has a valid point.  Buy the newest, and in best shape bike that you can afford.  Parts will be easier to come by and you will be able to resell the bike when you are ready to move on.

I rode a '92 RM125 back when they were new, and I wouldn't recomend that death trap to anyone.... ha ha ha

Technical / CR 85 loses spark

Check the coil, I had a similar problem and the coil had a hairline crack in it.  When the bike got hot or wet, no spark...
