General Two Stroke Talk / KTM REVEALS SOME PLANS FOR HUSQVARNA
« on: April 23, 2013, 05:42:08 AM »
WIll be interesting to see how this pans out.

Ill put money on the new Husky motor being a dame changes. Not nessisarily due to EFI etc etc, but I think it will be better than the KTM

whether its faster, lighter, more fuel efficient, emmissions efficient I dont know, but I have a feeling that its going to be something very trick.
I say this because their existing 2T engines are a cracker of a motor and yet they've completely gone back to the drawing board with it, why?

PS: Stusmoke, its ok you can say Dick Yeah as much as you like. I dont care really, I was just shit stirring you.
(as long as its not a gentleman's proposition)
I agree with that Jeram. In recent test the Husky wr-300 was faster than the KTM-300 & the Gas Gas 300xc plus did'nt Cycle World mag have a pic of what the next Husqvarna WR-300 would probably look like & it was suppose to be FI or DI & possibly be street legal? I almost bought a Husky WR-300 in 2011 but the shop had to order it & I was a tad bit impatient & juat bought the ktm-300xc... :<img src=" title="Roll Eyes" class="smiley">

Good luck on that, but yea its an 04 cr250 shroud and panel shopped over a te300. I am absolutely  shocked on how everything lined up though. I personally loved a the blue and yellow huskies, but this was taking a pot shot at KTM for throwing blue plastics on a 300xcw haha
I also liked the blue & yellow Huskies & still would if the Husabergs were'nt blue & yellow...I saw a 4-stroke Husaberg in one of the MXA or Dirt Rider mags a year or so ago & it was done in mostly black & blue & it looked great imo.At least different than the status quo blue/yellow Husaberg xcw....lol. :o

General Two Stroke Talk / KTM 250sx jetting
« on: April 23, 2013, 04:58:49 AM »
Also check out dicksracing's intilijet carb mod for the 250sx or whatever it is. MXA had some sweet results with it apparently. Link here: http://motocrossactionmag.com/KTM/News/INSIDE-MXAS-WORKSHOP-BUILDING-THE-ULTIMATE-2012-KT-8964.aspx
As you mentioned on here Stusmoke I would most definitely get a Intellijet carb from Dicks Racing! I recently rode a 2009 KTM-250xc-w & the jetting & power was near perfect if not perfect!!! I believe the Intellijet carb runs about $485.00 give or take, but they are well worth that price imho!!! ;)

Don't ask me how I sourced this, 2014 wr300  ;D:

Mmmmm, me like   :D
This looks too much like a photo shopped Husaberg TE-250 or 300? It looks great though but I hope KTM does'nt bring the Husqvarna out in the blue/yellow color scheme! I personally liked the red/white & black Husqvarnas the best so hopefully KTM will make them those colors or @ least make them look somewhat different from the Husabergs.... :<img src=" title="Roll Eyes" class="smiley">
BTW I'm still waiting for Maico Int. to bring out a nice fat bar Maico-320,380 or 500 enduro model & hopefully NOT with so much white freakin' plastic!!! >:-D

General Two Stroke Talk / KTM 2 stroke fuel injection
« on: April 01, 2013, 11:34:17 PM »
Theyve been saying that for years and years and year.

First it was a KTM, then it was a berg, then the husky was going to have the DFI, then KTM and the berg again.

I've been hearing this crap since 2008!

KTM isnt waiting for anything at all they are playing a game.

They dont want to be the first to bring it out, they want to be the second because thats where the profit is for inovative items.

1. The first company to release has to pay big dollars for advertising and PR to convert the Carbie die hards to EFI/DFI

2. The first company suffers poor sales in the first year while the bike is an odd ball

3. Faults are undoubtedly found in the first model which need fixing

where on the other hand.

1. KTM sits back and watches what unfolds and benefits from the Advertising by the first company as they try to convert the new inovation from an oddball innovation to mainstream technology.

2. KTM then introduces their product in year 2 once the product is mainstream

3. KTM learns from the first companies mistakes and ensures that they dont happen in their model

4. But most importantly KTM can decide whether the whole thing is worth investing in based on customer addopting the first brands bikes in year 1. (is it really worth it?)
You're dead on Jeram.I know how KTM operates as a company & they will as you've quoted be the 2nd brand to put DI on their off-road model 2-strokes.KTM will sit back & wait to see the 1st company do it & then either learn from their mistakes or if it's successful do their best to copy off of it.

General Two Stroke Talk / name this rippa!
« on: March 13, 2013, 05:31:11 AM »
the funny thing was how he ripped on the two stroke but was litterally pedestrian when he made the switch to the four stroke. weird?
He probably hated the weight difference on the 4-stroke.He surely could'nt whip the 4-choke around nearly as well as the 125 Kawasaki smoker!.. ;)

General Two Stroke Talk / Has anybody heard the recent Husqvarna news?
« on: March 09, 2013, 03:18:41 PM »
i have seen it and , 1 comment he made i didn`t like

was that they where gone share parts in between models, whit different specs and ascetics..

maybe 2014 will be the last cagiva you can get until they switch to ktm parts
I missed that but I don't like to hear that either! And yes you're more than likely right that 2014 will be the last of Cagiva/Husqvarnas as we know them..1st blue KTM's & next white & red ones... :<img src=" title="Roll Eyes" class="smiley">

General Two Stroke Talk / Has anybody heard the recent Husqvarna news?
« on: March 09, 2013, 09:11:33 AM »
Earlier this evening I was on my facebook page & came across an article in Cycle News magazine & Cycle News had a 1 on 1 interview with Stefan Pierer the CEO of KTM & Mr. Pierer stated in the interview that KTM acquired Husqvarna from BMW!?
Mr.Pierer pretty much said that they were able to acquire Husqvarna for a lot less money than BMW paid.He also stated that they were going to sell the existing Husqvarna "street bike" models & concentrate on selling more Supermoto models & eventually get Husqvarna back in motocross racing!
Reading as much as I could see from the article as my vision kind of sucks it seems to me that KTM is out for blood for lack of a better term & the article lead me to believe that it won't be too long before us smoker fans get to see some DI 2-strokes on the dealer floors sooner than some of us think... :)    PS..No pun intended but I trust Mr.Pierers words a heck of a lot more than the people from Maico International... ><img src=" title="Angry" class="smiley"> just saying.

Technical / 100LL vs 110 unleaded
« on: August 25, 2012, 05:34:37 AM »
run a leaded fuel if available your motor will love you.
I have to agree with racer x on this...The 100LL is your best bet. Leaded fuel actually helps lubricate the engine & will be especially good on a 2t race engine.  ;)

General Two Stroke Talk / Husqvaras' Rumored DI/Street Legal 2T
« on: August 22, 2012, 01:35:34 AM »
It was great to read about Husqvarna possibley bringing out a 300cc. direct injected/street legal smoker! Hopefully this happens very soon.I noticed in TSM's article however that it would have about 40 plus HP & to be honest I really wish they could squeeze about 10 to 12 more HP's out of their DI 2-stroke.Does anybody else on here have any opinions or info about this future direct injected 2-stroke?

Technical / Two stroke piston showdown.
« on: August 17, 2012, 01:58:48 PM »
When it's time for a new piston for my ktm-300 it will be a Wossner or Athena.More than likely a Wossner though..... :D

General Two Stroke Talk / 2012 KTM 380SX
« on: August 07, 2012, 04:49:43 AM »
Hmmm.... I don't really see evidence of that....

Slowly but surely the big bore 2T is making a comeback.
I've always been under the assumption,at least since the early 80's that any 2-stroke over 250cc. was considered a big bore...? I know the old ATK-260 2t was a very, very small bigger bore at best & the KTM 300's are a slightly bigger bore than a 250 2t but anyhow I absolutely love the 380 Katoom in a modern 350 frame & I actually thought that Service Honda would jump on that combo!!!  :) I would love that 4 sure!!!

General Two Stroke Talk / ktm or yz
« on: July 30, 2012, 01:34:17 PM »
The cost really isn't that much different. You'll spend money on both bikes to get them bring them up to date. The KTM will need suspension work, the yz will need motor work(Head mod, Porting, reeds, etc.).
I'd go with the 2010 KTM-250sx & send your suspension to 'Factory Connection' for stiffer springs & a revalve. It should run you about $850.00 usd & that's a decent price for top of the line suspension work... ;)...It may even be a little cheaper than $850.00 but if you race it's well worth the price!  :)
