Non-Moto / Stolen Bikes (Central Virginia) (2) ATK LQ''s & 2 Kawi''s
« on: August 13, 2012, 04:51:40 PM »
Any luck on getting your bikes back?

One ATK recovered, basically stripped / trashed with the piston basically welded to the cylinder. KX80 recovered a little beat up, the tank came loose and pulled on the wiring enough to unplug the CDI (they weren't smart enough to figure out what went wrong with it so the dumped it) anyone in Central VA (Richmond / Tri-Cities) that knows or comes in contact with any of the following individuals (thieves) tell them I said high and their days of freedom are numbered:

Here is what info I have on them...

Television News Report Video can be found here:

The voice recording of alleged suspect Richie Wilson can be found here:
http://www.vintageamericana.net/dirtbikes/richiewilson4-28-12%20part1of2.mp3

And alleged suspect Chris Simmons:
http://www.vintageamericana.net/dirtbikes/ChrisSimmonsPhoneConversation5-1-2012.mp3

I have interest in talking to the following persons regarding this theft as they have been placed at the scene in a rented Dodge Pickup that was impounded shortly after the theft while being driven by one Deonta Harrison:

Derrick Priestly - Approx 24 years old White Male around 180lbs Heavy Set 5'10" Littlefield Drive, Chester, VA (currently incarcerated) (Recently described as being 21 years old)

Michael Williams - White male 160lbs Medium Set 5'9" Pineglade Ln, Chesterfield, VA (Nervous and shaky and apparently a good source for weed)

Deonta Harrison - Approx 24 years old Black Male 2450 Osborne Road, Chester, VA 6' (currently incarcerated) (Previous history of theft and gun related charges)

Chris Simmons (around 18 years old) white male small build 5'5" (Extremely Cocky Attitude with little guy syndrome)

http://www.vintageamericana.net/dirtbikes/ChrisSimmonsPhoneConversation5-1-2012.mp3

Richard "Richie" Wilson - white male approximately 24 years old medium build blond hair (This idiot actually blew his buddies in on tape then realized he implicated himself in the process, then he actually called me about a week ago an claimed he was going to sue me for damaging his reputation... Ummmm. Richie that's "Your Voice", what an idiot... ) (Last seen with a face full of "meth type" pock marks)

Recording Part#1

Recording Part#2

As well as an individual named Jarret that has been known to associate with those listed above

Its also been reported that they like their illicit substances, (Heroin/Meth/Cocaine etc) which is likely the habit they were trying to support with the sale of the bikes...

Already did that, they are different weights therefore different part numbers, I was thinking someone may know if the drive and stator shafts are the same and that the extra mass was simply added to the lobes of the crank.

Its my understanding that when Suzuki redesigned the RM 250 motor in 01, they added some weight to the crank in 03, are the 03 and up cranks interchangeable with the 01/02 models or are their other differences as well? I haven't really been able to get a clear answer on this yet. Does anybody know?

Thanks,

Can anyone confirm the "fuel rule"?

From what I understand with 2 strokes running less compression any restrictions on fuel quality should hamper the hi tech 4 stroke grenades much more.
I can only see this as an advantage for 2 strokes if the fuel octane rating was controlled.

Its the "no lead" clause, not the octane that creates a small disadvantage for the smokers

We sure can! email me at info@illusiongrafix.com

The number plates and rear fender are 93-97 KTM will you need templates for them as well or just the tank?

Are you willing to come up with something for my ATK's if I get you a template in CAD format?

Thanks

I sold a Tri-Z250 Yamaha from my business once.

From what I understand manufacturers could no longer obtain insurance to sell the 3 wheelers in North America and that pretty much finished them off.

Pressure from the CPSC (Consumer products safety commission) began to build in the mid 80's over concerns of three wheeler related incidents (the 20/20 news special was the tipping point) and the manufactures signed a "consent decree" banning the sale of new three wheeled ATV's for ten years (in exchange for not having to issue a recall), in the meantime all the manufactures started building quads... The "consent decree" has since expired and there were a few Chinese companies building prototypes... the CPSC panicked and  and since they had no official right to "BAN" them they included verbiage in the "Lead Law" that states that no new three wheeled ATV's can be sold until a safety standard is adopted by the CPSC... A call to the CPSC will result in you being told that they have no current plans or funding to do such a study (kind of a back door / loop hole ban)

The truth is that three wheelers when ridden correctly are no more dangerous than quads and the majority of the serious and fatal accidents either involved alcohol or drugs and most didn't involve helmets...

In the mid 80's trikes outnumbered dirtbikes for a time the problem was that parents just bought the things and sent their kids off to play with neither the kid or the parent for that matter knowing how to ride them and it always nice to blame your childs injury on something other than your own poor judgement (Welcome to Lawsuit Happy America)

Anyway I currently have (3) Kawasaki Tecate's (1) Tri-Z (Actually my wifes) and a Big Red for doing some lawn and garden work, to go along with all of our bikes and we ride our bikes more than anything... but there is nothing like flat tracking a 40hp 2 stroke "Try Cycle" Hangin' off the inside peg and whipping it sideways into a turn at 40+ mph its pure adrenaline (they cant be that dangerous I've been doing just that for the past almost 30 years)

The trx250r motor was balanced, and vibration is a major issue with a non balanced motor's in a quad/trike frames, expect everything to self loosen or crack. :-X
This guy down in Australia built a counter balanced cr500 motor purposely for a 86 trx250r.

Not all ATV's are balanced, the Tecate 3's aren't the vibration is not that big of a deal, and likely why the Kawasaki's ran all over the 250r's back in the day (no extra counter weight added to the rotating mass)

General Two Stroke Talk / GAS GAS Dealers
« on: February 20, 2011, 09:27:04 AM »
Does anybody know of a Gas Gas dealer in Virginia or the surrounding states? Also if their parts availability is on par with Husqvarna? Or any opinions or experiences with the bikes themselves... I've never been a "follow the leader" bike buyer and it looks like they make some pretty nice bikes... So I was thinking of giving them a shot.

Thanks

You can die in your sleep too but you do it every day.
Absolutely right, never let the presence of possible danger keep you from enjoying life. I hate to see anybody get hurt doing anything, and on a bike it always hits home... But as awful as it is its the a reality of life, you can die while or after enjoying life or you can die not doing it... My prayers and thoughts go out to his family

« on: January 25, 2011, 06:40:43 AM »
So can the "Kostler Maico's" be imported to the states?
Here's the deal I am going to buy a new bike, My hearts been set on a Maico (the "New Maico) but It just doesn't seem like that is moving along very smoothly, I'd settle for one of these if they are available... either that or its another Husky or maybe a GasGas but I was really wanting a Maico
