Non-Moto / My 380 road racer project

School me on the isoelastic engine mounts.?
And you should be wearing gloves when tig welding. ;)

Opps, forgot I wasnt on my PC, this is JERAM

big bore 2Ts like to vibrate alot... and when in a stiff aluminium frame things can become diabolical easily.
Vibrations are the main cause of these projects to fail (either through frames and componants breaking or the rider not enjoying the bike)

We came up with the idea a few years back to isolastically mount the motor on urethane bushes.
The idea of rubber mounting a motor isnt a totally new concept however, you just need to look at a banshee or a BSA for instance to see rubberised mouting system.

However this system has much more dampening. 4 dampening bushes at the front and 2 in the head stay.

We HOPE that by combining this with tungsten inserts in the clip ons, rubber mounted rear sets and a foam seat that this will make the motor feel silky smooth. Failing that we will also have the crank rebalanced as required.

Dont take what were saying to mean that you can just put whatever amount of oil in you feel like. When a bike is jetted, it needs to be jetted for a specific fuel/oil ratio, that is, your fuel. If you run 32:1 and you rejet your bike for that oil/fuel ratio, you need to stick to it. Its no good waking up one morning and thinking hey I wonder if I should try 25:1 maybe it will make my engine last longer. Thats not good and the reason is that, becasue there is more oil in the fuel at 25:1 than there is a 32:1, it translates into a leaner air/fuel mixture during the combustion cycle. Granted a change that small wouldn't be a disaster I'm just using that as an example. If you dramatically change your premix ratio, you might need to rejet. But its usally just one size either side and it sounds like you bought that bike brand new so there should be a few optional pilots, needles and mains. Hopefully you can get away with using those.

Good luck, glad you got the problem sorted.

25:1 =4% oil and 32:1=3% oil is your bike jetted to within 1% of a seizure? You should be running 20-25:1 anyway.

That's is the Bernie Eccelstone blueprint, get goverments to underwrite your bottom line. Teams should no be so spineless, if they stand up en masse they have a chance, such as in F1 the teams get a considerable portion of the TV revenues, the distribution is the reverse of their position last year ie the tail end teams get a greater % than the front runners. The top tems got that for the lesser teams.

Is there any other 2t fuel injection systems (snowmobiles, outboards ect) that run premix through the injectors?

Modern sleds have dry bottom ends with sealed greased bearings and scant oil injection to the big ends, others with very low premix ratios. The premix is a non issue with oil in suspension and very high fuel pressure th oil will do what it's told.

What did Mrs Uniflow say about the lawn? Sounds a lot different to carb engine. What's all that green stuff covering the hills in the backgraound?
Be keen to see if you can nail the injector timing

Vintage Two Strokes / RM250 Rebuild

The brilliance of Dave Fenners jig (he's a master machinist and writes for Model Engineers Workshop where the article comes from) is it does axial and radial alignment as well as off set in one go.

Did you measure the off set before you pulled them apart?

Here's the best jig I have seen, all made from scrap material

Thanks for that streaks, some more questions might be up soon.

Any more benefits to a 2 stroke compared to a 4 stroke if anyones got some will be great.

Chicks like 2 strokes  ;)  2 stroke riders are better looking, Riding a two stroke decreases the risk of heart disease and lung cancer,

Wait don't mean your telling me promotors are out to make a dollar?

MotoGP got more expensive from the fuel limits not the CC decrease, which required complex electronics and people to program the trick boxes. That came from the manufacturers themselves as the only way to justify racing budgets to company boards.
