General Two Stroke Talk / Well guys I have some very bad news...
« on: October 31, 2011, 05:44:18 AM »
No way a THUMPER can out run a 2 stroke no way man no way ! :P

Says the guy who rides a 250 2 stroke now, in replacement for his 250F. LOL.   :P  ;D  Yeah, I guess the 105cc's does make a difference.  I too can kick Tiger Woods azz with a 105 stroke handicap. Ha ha.  Means, I'm better than him.

Like I had stated, it's really a null point about weight etc.  Amateurs already have the cc vs cc, so this post was regarding the Pro rules that Burn is trying to get passed.  No Pro has a stock 250F, so add 10 hp to a 250F and the close race I had, no longer...

Welp, I figured you guys would have those responses  :P  The good news, is hp wise, I'm pretty sure it was dead even. So anyone know the hp for a 2011 KX250F?  Second, yes it was on pavement.  The thing is, here is why my opinion stands. Like Burn said  If we wanna compare, the 250F has smoother broader power.  So although these two seem to be equal, you gotta compare the whole track. So the question was asked, if the same rider was on both bikes, who would win.  If the rider never ever made a mistake, the 250F would out perform the 144, just on the mere fact that it has an easier time doing certain corners and jumps.  Then, add in the fact that no one, ever does a complete moto, without atleast a small mistake.  I feel the 2 stroke cc vs 4 stroke cc is a fair fight.  Again, it's my opinion, but I just think the 250 vs 250 is fair.

Something else to keep in mind here guys. My bike is about as maxed as I can go. Gorr porting and cylinder/head mods. Cases ported and matched. So my point is, the 250F as stock has a lot of potential still too, as we know Pro Circuit gets about 10 more hp.

Yesterday I went riding my CR144 E85 Eric Gorr.  There was a KX250F 2011 there.  On the track we were pretty close, following eachother. I haven't ridden since March though, and so if I practiced I'd clearly be faster. Anyhoo We got chatting, and I said I'm pretty sure this bike will beat that in an all out drag race, because it's not a 125 any more.  He said, let's go race, I was cool with that. We went up to a road and went at it twice. Both times, we were dead even from start until I topped out, and let off.  His bike clearly still had more to go as he started pulling at the end.  So my conclusion, and even my friend who was with me that is a 4 stroke fighter through and through, that it is more fair than many think with 250 2 stroke vs 250 4 stroke.  Being that 4 strokes have smoother power, the 144cc just isn't any faster than the 250F.  It is just as fast, but the fact that a 250F has smoother power, If I was racing, I would want a 250 2 stroke against a 250F, not just the 144.  I left pretty surpised, but also now understand why I keep seeing videos with 250 vs 250 being very good races.  That bike was still stock as well, although pretty loud, so may be opened up. Anyways, Just my person opinion...

How are you awarding the funds?  Are you setting up a pay-pal we can put our deposit into?  Make it legit and I am in.  I am a broke college student so I will go $10 and $10.  Who else is in?  Lets get a grand or more together!

We don't know yet if anyone will even be riding, since it is last minute.  But if someone does, then we will either setup a paypal account or let the rider set one up, and we just send it directly to him.  It will be on an honor system if you pay or not. If someone does this, and you have posted $10 and $10, Then we will just expect that you will honor your amount. Since I started it, I will make sure it's legit, because I don't need people to go off blaming me for anything 2 stroke failing.  I want this to be an opportunity for the world to see that cc vs cc is fair, but the fast guys will still be on 4 strokes, cuz that is who pays them.

We have been updated, by GuyB. It is open CC, even though the whole PR dealio pulled a don't ask don't tell 125 and 250cc 2 stroke move.

We are running a pool for the top 2 stroke main event placer, $50, and holeshot award 2 stroker $50.  Post if your in. Honor system, but you better pay, or don't come back  if you commit.

Both GuyB and Engine Ice Dave have confirmed it is open.  "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" worked well for the racists.

I have found in a straight up drag race there is not much between the 2 bikes.
The TM is slightly quicker but I wouldn't say it "smokes" the 450.
Just keeping it real. :)

You know what it does to 2 strokes but I sure would like to know? I know for a fact that my KTM-300xc will smoke the crap out of these modern 450f 4-strokes!....... 8) ;) 8)

You must have the fastest 300 on the planet. :o
My 300 is only AS quick as a 450.
Maybe I need it tuned. :-X
I'd be willing to bet on a plane drag, the 2 stroke woud beat the 450F.  I believe (I could be wrong) the 300 has more hp and less weight. That is all that matters in quarter mile time.

maby it will smoke the 450s but so does my 505  lol

A little more pounds though. Gotta admit it.  I'd bet you might reconsider if you rode a well built 2012 300 vs that 505. Then you wouldn't need two bikes at all. Just one would be the best of all worlds.

Sorry guys, that was 500guy.  You should know better than fall into that bear trap.

Bigair, I find this post quite interesting...   Guess we wore you down, or maybe the 250F did? Anyways, my 07 250XCW was pretty grunty.  As far as turning, uh, duh, LOL. I think we've told you the 2 strokes will turn circles around the 4 stroke. Ha ha.  I don't think you need the head done quite yet. Ride it, and see how you like it. You also need to get the handlebar switch for the ignition. It is very feelable. So you will notice a change if you really know bikes, one is great for comparison to a 4 stroke, and the other lets you do more of a 2 stroke style.  All while on the fly.  The guy I sold mine too, just happened to come in my office on Monday and praise how much he loves it. Has sold off his 4 strokes now.  If you are gonna do work on the motor, I'd say wait and just go to the 300 cylinder and MikeS head when you are ready.

The Euro value has dropped quite a bit. I think it's around 1.3 now of the US dollar. It used to be almost double.
