General Two Stroke Talk / old school

I think all this 2 stroke talk influenced bigair40 dig out some old photo's. He emailed them to me yesterday but was having some trouble uploading them on here. Man this guy is old... (#40, 4 and 8.)

Can anyone guess the years of the bikes?

Technical / interchangable yz cylinders?

Ive got a 2000 yz125 (clylinder # 5HD00) that puked a crank. The cylinder has a few scratches and the head is pretty beat up. Does anyone know if any other year cylinder will work on a 2000. I know just about all of them will bolt up to the motor but Im looking for one that would use the same pipe and frame mounts as a 2000.

I know I can replace/replate the cylinder for $200 but then Ive still got a beat up head. I was thinking about just sending the cases and top end to Eric Gorr for a 144, that way everything (including the head) would be fixed. $500 for the whole service including the top end doesnt seem to bad.

I would still like to get away cheap with another top end if possable, any insight would be appreciated.

General Two Stroke Talk / Hello from Kentucky

Hello Everybody. My name is Bryan and Im a die hard 2 stroke fan from Ky. I got my first big bike (94 kx125) at 16 and started racing a year later. I raced a 250 2 stroke off and on for 10 years untill going to the dark side in 2007. I love the traction of a 450 but still missed the feel of blasting around the track on a 2 stroke. I broke my leg about a year ago and sold everything except a 2000 yz125 that I bought for $300. Its rough and definetly going to get a total rebuild which is the reason for joining the forum.

I ran the stock pipe with a pro circuit shorty and vforce because I felt it was the best combo. I replaced that stock pipe several times when it would get smashed. I never liked any of the other (pc,fmf) powerbands as much.

Here's a pic of Ryan Sipes goon riding with his brother Justin at one of our local tracks about a month ago. Ryan still loves riding 2 strokes.



Anyways hello everybody
