Open Forum / Tornadoes down South
« on: May 04, 2011, 05:20:08 PM »
Just now getting around to posting.  Please pray for victims families and lost loved ones.

Last Wednesday as many of you know we were pounded by many EF4 and one EF5 tornados that left our state (ALABAMA) and much of the south devastated.  Everywhere I travel there is destruction.

The death toll is now 236 in Bama alone and 80 or so people missing.  I believe there are well over 300 dead  in the SE. Life for many still has not returned to normal.

I know this is sad news but, there is good news to report also.  The small communities all over the south have come together, volunteering, organizing donation centers and just showing care and love for their neighbor (as it should be). There are also remarkable stories of survival.

For any of you weather bugs out there, do a search on youtube, type Tuscaloosa tornado(it's a monster) or Arab tornado (this one was 3 miles south of my house).  You can also view videos of the aerial flyover of the destruction.

Again, your thoughts and prayers are appreciated.

General Two Stroke Talk / Signing a waiver, any attorneys on here?
« on: November 08, 2010, 06:45:56 PM »
My neighbor and I have been building a mx track on his property.  The only riders allowed will be friends.  Although I do not see any of them filing a lawsuit if they should get hurt, I guess it would be possible their insurance provider would.

All mx tracks I have been to make you sign a waiver, releasing them of any and all liability. I have heard that these waivers are not worth the paper they are printed on.

Does anyone on here know if this is true or have experience with property owner liability?

IMO he should make everyone sign a waiver, even myself, to protect him and his property. But, if the waiver does not protect him, why make them sign? Is there another means of protection?

Technical / Online orders, TT sucks!
« on: September 29, 2010, 06:31:55 PM »
Who do you guys order OEM parts online from?  I tried ThumperTalk and it's been 13 days, still no parts. >:(

I should have known better but I was trying to save some money on shipping.  Live and learn I guess.

The weather has finally cooled off here and I have no bike to ride.  I'm getting very pissed at TT!

General Two Stroke Talk / New member intro.
« on: September 27, 2010, 08:20:49 AM »
Hey guys,

Just wanted to introduce myself.  I've been a lurker on here for a while. ;D

I'm 40 yo and have been riding bikes on and off since I was 10.  My current ride is a 2006 YZ125 that I can honestly say is the most fun bike I've owned.  I also have a 11 yo son that rides as well. (2003 CR85R)  We live in North Alabama and mostly ride trails with a little mx (practice only).  I have raced one buddy harescramble that was a blast and intend to do more in the future.

Like many, I fell for the 4-stroke hipe and purchased a 2004 CRF250R that was easy to ride with decent power but just didn't have what I was looking for.  I found myself getting lazy riding it and the fun factor just wasn't there.  The maintenace cost along with the worry of the thing exploding(not that 2 st don't but , the rebuild cost is considerable less) really got me back to the 2 stroke.  After owning several 2 strokes over the years(1989 YZ125, 1985 CR500, 1991 RMX250, 2001 KX250) and a 1988 XR600 (tractor) and the CRF of course, I decided to get back to the 2 stroke, which I will probably always ride from now on.

BTW, great site.

P.S. Are there any members on here from the South?
