General Two Stroke Talk / A kids first time on smoker
« on: September 12, 2011, 06:15:03 AM »
Took my boy and his friend riding yesterday. There was a younger kid, maybe 18-19 y/o, there riding a RMZ 250. He was actually pretty good. But come to find out, he had never ridden a 2 stroke. :o

So at the end of the day I talked him into riding my boys KX250. I clearly explained to him how a 2 stroke reacts and is pretty violent and to imagine he's riding a 450 but with real power. Well, he chalks up the 3rd rider to take one lap and come back scared and shaking.
He said, " My God, I jumped stuff I didn't mean to jump. That was scary.I never got out of 3rd."

The 125 is down for a complete resto/powder coating otherwise I'd have put him on that to intoduce him to 2 strokes. But he got trial by fire. :D

My boy is 16 and runs that thing 4th & 5th pinned as much as he can. This actually makes me very proud that I taught my son that 2 stroke is the only way and he knows that 4t's are for the mild hearted. He rides 450's and has no problem opeing them up. but he just doesn't like them.

General Two Stroke Talk / We lost another one.....
« on: July 27, 2011, 10:08:48 PM »
Well guys we lost another fellow rider at ponca city her name was Isabella Koob and from what i have found out she was involved in a first turn crash that didn't end up well . It's always sad to hear that a fellow rider has died especially a younger one who has never had the chance to grow up to be something really great  :'(. All my prayers go out to her and her family- R.I.P Ride In Peace

General Two Stroke Talk / GasGas doing MX
« on: May 11, 2011, 08:58:13 AM »
Well, a friend of mine is a GG dealer and is having my son race either the ec250 or ec300 at our track this weekend. My son has ridden both on this track and says they are awesome. Dave, the owner, hasn't had anyone to podium with his bikes, so we're gonna try this weekend. Granted, they are a trail bike but his laptimes were only 1.5 sec slower than on his KX125, which he reams the hell out of and, of course, is familiar with.

I'm not complaining...everything is being paid for.

It was funny, he went over a jump and whipped. he said the bike felt lighter than his 125. He said he looked back and his back wheel was WAAAAYYYY out there.  Then it came back smooth as silk.

So hopefully we have a good weekend.

Since he lives on this site and really doesn't post too much. He uses my account, well, he actually made it. But here's a a few vids of him I'd like to share.
I couldn't be more proud of him. He started on quads at 8, went to his first bike at 11 (kx100) and began racing 6 months after learning how to ride a bike. I pushed him hard at first and taught him as much as I could, then allowed him to learn alot on his own. His confidence is a roller coaster sometimes.

This first vid, all the kx100 parts are mostly of his first year of racing/riding. His first 3 races he never finished better than 15th. After an FCA mx camp, came his 4th race ever, (first race in vid) he pulled the hole shot and finished 3rd.

 Enjoy.

Technical / breaking up on low side.
« on: August 09, 2010, 03:02:31 PM »
03 kx125. It has V force reeds, Phathead with one size under stock chamber new top/bottom end, etc. We dropped 2 pilots and 3 mains/ It is breaking up at part throttle. When it hits the powerband it flies. Is this in the jetting or the cdi/coil? If jetting which way? I'm thinking if jetting, its in the pilot or needle clip. Stock pilot was #40. 35 in it now. main was 420, now 390. Clip at 3rd from top, screw out 2 1/4 turns.

Any ideas??? I'm not sure if I want to lean out the pilot any more or if it actually needs it. I can't figure out if the breaking up is a lean or rich or ignition.

Photos & Videos / My intro.
« on: June 18, 2010, 08:23:36 AM »
well, I've been lurking on this site a for quite awhile and finally registered. So I'll intro myself with some pics and vids. I don't ride much anymore, just support my kids. BTW, I love 2 strokes and my son hates 4 strokes and loves pounding on them on the tracks. Especially when he runs the 250 in the lites class. But he usually runs open with it.

My son is now 15. Started on a kx100 at 11 and is now on a 125 & 250. My daughter is 9 and now on a kx65.
