For Sale / 2007 (2010) RM 250 for sale - 15 hours - SOLD!!
« on: August 03, 2011, 12:02:02 PM »
2007 RM 250 100% stock bought brand new in mid 2010.
I'm giving up MX and moving towards Enduro and trail riding (KTM 300 in my sights).  I bought it from a dealer that had it in a crate in August of 2010.  I broke my collar bone and separated my shoulder a month later, after about 10 hours of riding.  This year, I've put 0 hours on the track and maybe 5 hours on the farm (probably less).

I changed the oil every other ride.  There's the typical small dents on the factory pipe (small) and normal boot scuffs on the frame.  The front fender has a few scratches on it and I replaced the brake lever for a shorter one.  The factory tire still has 75% knobby left on it and the bike runs perfect and is super clean.  It's practically brand new.  I can post a picture if needed, but really all you need to do is look online since mine is bone stock and almost new.  $3,100 OBO, I live in Taylorville, Illinois

Any impressions on that year motor or transmission?
Is there anything I need to look for or to check on that particular year?

General Two Stroke Talk / What new rules???
« on: May 23, 2011, 08:30:12 AM »
I just pulled this off Forward Motions site (ERIC GORR).  I assume (figured)  this is just the amateur rules but never heard of the 295cc minimum to run against 450f's.

The new rules for the 250s by the AMA and FIM give the 250 2-stroke the run of the show. If you want to race 250Fs in the 250 class it has to stay a 250 and we can port it to suit your riding style. If you want to race against 450Fs, it has to be at least 295cc and that kit is $660. If you race dtx, hare scrambles, hill-climb, or ice-racing we can build an "80-over" (2mm) 265cc for only $550 parts and labor.

I'm trying to find a graphics combo kit for my '07 RM 250 and not having any luck.  All I seem to come across is the RMZ-250 kits, which are not compatible from what I hear.  Anyone know where there is a selection of kits that come with a black or matching seat cover?

General Two Stroke Talk / My dad (55 years old) bought a new bike
« on: March 22, 2011, 12:07:12 PM »
Like a lot of you, I don't hate four strokes, I just hate the rule advantage given to four strokes.  My dad raced 2 strokes in the 70's and early 80's but now likes four strokes power delivery for his type of riding and racing (dual sport races and enduro).  It's a KTM 450-XC-W.  It's pretty fun, but doesn't have the punch that my RM 250 has.  It's linear power is typical of a 450 and it's a nice looking bike!  I tries to convince him to get a KTM 300 2t but he wants the option to make this bike street legal and he likes the predictable power at his age.

General Two Stroke Talk / RM 85 big wheel?
« on: December 04, 2010, 07:19:15 AM »
Does anyone know the wheel size differences between the regular RM 85s and the big wheel rm 85?  I'm trying to figure out which one I have.

Thanks!

Cool 2 stroke video

Yes, it's just an open practice but it's always nice to hear the booming sound of a 4 stroke fade away as a two stroke rips past it  :P ;D

General Two Stroke Talk / Recovery time for broken clavicle?
« on: August 09, 2010, 09:41:13 AM »
I recently got back into racing a 2 stroke, and 2 wheels.  I raced back in the 90's then the last few years did some 4x4 scrambles on the 750 kawi brute.  Anyway, I spent the last 3 months getting my legs back on the new (2008 RM 250) 2 stroke and last Sunday, on the finish line jump, after my second lap, I got bumped at the peak of the jump and pretty much faceplanted the landing.  I knew I was in trouble and tried to ride it out on the front wheel, but was to no avail.  Thankfully all I broke was my collar bone (and my neckbrace).

Have any of you broke yours and how long was the recovery and time before you got back on the bike.
My clavicle broke completely and I'm going in for surgery tomorrow morning to get a plat/pins and to remove a fragment.

P.S.
My bike only suffered a broken brake lever  :D

General Two Stroke Talk / Trying to decide on pipe for my RM
« on: July 16, 2010, 08:18:15 AM »
I've been looking all over for a comparison of pipes/silencers for 2003-2008 RM 250.  I can't find a good pipe review or characteristics for my RM 250.  Does anyone have experience with FMF and Pro Circuit pipe on the last years of the Suzuki RM 250?

Thanks

Andrew Short and Ryan Sipes are at the track I have a membership to, for a motocross camp July5-9.  I thought about going out there to see if I could ask either of them a 2t vs 4t question, since I can't ride this week because of their camp.  Does anyone have a respectable way of me bringing up the 4 stroke handicap to either of these 2 pros?  Any other questions or ideas?

General Two Stroke Talk / Project Two 50 ..tip? Mike Alessi
« on: June 22, 2010, 11:56:49 AM »
I was thinking about this, while watching how impressive Mike Alessi is on is KTM 350 against the 450's.  If Mike Alessi were riding for Project Two 50 (not taking anything from the Mike that is already riding for Two 50), could he have the same results that he is getting now?  He managed to get 2nd place in the first moto, on a bike (KTM 350 4 stroke) that is probably about on par with a tweaked out 250.  He's on a less powerful machine than the competition, and manages to get holeshot, or in the top 3 out of the gate nearly every time.  I know, the 350 may have even better traction than the 450, true, but Mike A. tends to get the holeshot, or top 5, and then manages to block others from passing him better than most, but his lap times aren't slow.

Does Project Two 50's Mike have a riding style like Mike Alessi?  I think if he can ride like Mike A., he can compete at Red Bud.  Just don't ride like Mike Alessi did at Red Bud in 2008, lol.
