Technical / What have you done for your bike lately
« on: March 31, 2011, 01:48:35 PM »
Beings that I got one year older this last tuesday, I am really old now, I decided I would spend my b-day money on a few things for my bike.
Problem is that the items I liked and purchased were more that twice my b-day money  :D  isnt that always the case.
I got the loud mouth intake kit, the cycra vented front fender, a 14 tooth front sprocket, soft hooks, the jd kit and two tickets to the supercross event in Irvin Tx this saturday. Not too bad b-day gifts.
So if your b-day was recently, what did you get for your bike and if it wasnt, since spring is in the air, what spring items have you gotten for your bike for this years riding season?

Technical / High Country rid-n with the 4-strokers
« on: January 29, 2011, 07:11:23 PM »
In the spring, I have been invited to go riding in the high country, say up around 12000 feet above sea level.(Goose Lake New Mexico and surround area, and back country fire roads)
Going with an older buddy with 4 stroke crf450.  He already gives me grief about my cr125 and 2-stroke & the whole business.
I need to make sure I put in a strong showing for all us 2-stroke guys when I go.
I am thinking of things to get my bike ready for the ride.
It will include some mountainous trails, some valleys in which to haul a$$, some meadows to haul a$$, some tricky
agility trails, no real brush to speak of, but some big tree root areas.
We have visited this area before and, unfortunately, I was riding an xr500, so this riding is catered to the thumper, so, at least, I dont want anything going wrong with my 2-stroke and it becoming an issue for a bad ride, no stop and go instances with spark plugs changes. I will really have to do my jetting homework.
So, here are some things I am thinking about doing to my 07 cr125 to get it ready.
1.) more rear sprocket tooth.
2.) along with jeting, probably a jd kit for the needles.
3.) perhaps a little more rubber in the back tire (size)?
4.) rad valves
Any other mods & or suggestions, welcome.
Keep on, keeping 2-strokes

Anybody out there use a steering dampner and if so, do you like it?
Was thinking about one for my bike, its a 2007 HONDA CR125.

Technical / Jd Jetting kit
« on: August 05, 2010, 02:03:40 PM »
ok, ok, I know some say it's the easy way out.
But, I wanted to find out how many of you out there use this kit and what kind of luck you have had using it.
I havent rode my new 07 cr125 bike yet (temps have been in the triple digits) so I dont know what issues with jetting I am going to have.  I pulled the plug and it is wet from the dealer checkout at purchase.  I do know that, I, at least need to change the main jet due to current temperatures in my area and I know many say that from the factory these bike come wet from the begining.
I had a terrible time with my 06 cr125 before with fouling plugs and I am tired of that bullshiet.
I have since educated myself on the brass side of things, as well as anybody should when owning a 2t.
I have heard that the Jd kit's needles are tappered and are a step up from factory and really are an asset to help with dialing the bike in.
In the next few weeks some 4t brothers have invited me to go to the mountains to ride, including some trails and some open space riding.
It will be up around 9,000 feet, so to have a hassel free good time I need to be dialed in to make sure my 2t represents our kind in good fashion.
These guys have been giving me a rough time verbally since they found out I bought another 2t.
St, redridermx2 & scotty dog in particular, what are yous guys thoughts on this subject?

Thanks in advance for any advice/experience/thoughts.

Photos & Videos / New 07 Cr125
« on: July 24, 2010, 04:17:53 PM »
Some of you guys know my story of my 06 cr125 being stolen outta my storage space last year.  It was a tough deal to go through and
even tougher for my daughter who was learing to ride it and planned to race it someday.
Since then we have been saving our pennies and dimes.
So here it is saturday morning and nothing to do so we decided to go window shoping. First we visited the yamaha dealer
and he had two - two strokes on the floor, one was a 2010 Yz 125 for $6K something and the other was
a 2010 Yz250 for I think around $6999 both are beautiful bikes, he said they were rare and that he had to trade for them with
another dealership to get them.  Very nice guy.  We discussed two strokes and he said he liked them, I asked him if he had heard of that
144 kit and he said he had, but he also threw in that he had sold a four stroke this morning, ha ha.
After leaving there I decided, what the heck, lets go to the Honda dealership.
We went in and was looking around at all the 4 jokes and low and behold, there it was, the 2007 cr125.  Its what's called an nos bike.
It was too much to bear and we asked about it and got it.
It does have some flaws on it but nothing we couldnt stand.
I grew up riding Honda's and never had any problems with them, guess I was lucky or so we will see.
On a side note, they have a nos Cr250 for sale if anyone is interested.
Pictures forthcoming.

General Two Stroke Talk / More Freestone National Motocross Pictures

Well it looks like my being tardy to the dance, um I mean the race, meant I missed out on getting into the pit area.  I guess I will know next time to go with someone who is a little more fired up about the races.
It indeed was a hot day, I must have had a drink in my hand all day, and no, unfortunately not a beer, only water. We sat under a big tree at the south west end of the track.  I made the walking tour around the track but I didnt recognize anybody from here.  I did walk past the grand stands but didnt see John, must have had the sun in my eyes, it was a very sunny and hot day.
Here are some pictures of the men and women racing, in seperate races obviously.  I hope you guys can see them as I am new to posting images on "ImageShack".
A little later I will post some other pics I think you guys will enjoy as well.

Hey the pictures posted, a few double images, what the heck. :o
In my opinion the first round races seemed faster than the second ones probably because of the heat.
It was obvious who seemed to affected by the heat after the 5th or 6th laps. I actually saw a rider with a fluids straw coming from over his shoulder, probably water.  Early on I was proud of the boys on red but after the 5 or 6 laps some and most fadded.  I was very impressed by Regal, Metcalfe, Tomac & Alessi at the first of each of the races but they too seemingly had some issues.  At this time in the races the best riders began to shine, the ones that paced themselves and worked up to the front and took over. Alessi's KTM bike was very cool looking.
The only negative I thought about the whole thing was that you couldnt hear the loud speaker anouncer, even when the bike were away on the other side of the track you couldnt hear but maybe 2 or 3 words.  I asked some people around me who won the second moto - no one knew.  Next year I will take my radio and listen to the announcer, live through the broadcast.
Hope you guys enjoy the pictures and remember more pictures to come.

Todd
