General Two Stroke Talk / My CR500
« on: February 20, 2011, 11:57:31 PM »
Is really F___ing fast...

I went for a ride in the Mojave desert today, I was heading back to camp to gas up, And went by a couple of guys on 450's I was cruising at about 60. Next thing I know one of the fart bikes is farting next to me, So I pin it and  put my chin on the bars. Fart man starts falling back like a safe going down a flight of stairs. My bike is dancing around on the sandy road like I can't believe, and I can't make myself let off of the throttle, I held it wide open for about ten second after it stopped picking up speed, It was a slight down hill, That is all she had. I did not see the 450 again. When I got back to the truck I checked the max speed on my computer, and laughed my ass off.

I smell like c12, Caster 927, and dirt... I may never bathe again. 8)

My Son and I Race the D37 Hare and Hound series.
This is the first race of the year "Jackrabbits M/C Hare and Hound" 1/09/2011

My son Jeremy, He got a great start and finished 2nd in class.

I got a crappy start Finished 4th in class, About 6 minutes behind my son

Temps were in the mid 30's at the start, The dirt was wet and traction was really good. We had a great time. I was only able to get to two races in 2010 :( .I hope to do more racing this year, Maybe a couple of enduros as well

General Two Stroke Talk / 2010 YZ250 Set up part 2
« on: July 10, 2010, 11:20:35 PM »
Hey guys,
a while back when I picked up my new bike i started a thread about the bike ergos....yada yada.

Well I got her set up the way I like, and this thing is great. best handling bike I have ever ridden, It turns quick and precise, Its smooth in the rough slow stuff, and takes big hits really well.
the stock engine is the best off road power plant I have had the pleasure to ride.

mods list
IMS 3.2 gallon tank
race tech springs .46 front, 5.2 rear
Scott's damper
fmf turbine core spark arrestor.

I really don't think the bike needs any engine mods for my riding style, It chugs down low if I make a mistake, and the mid and top are strong enough for my advanced age.

So I feel kinda silly for complaining about the set up earlier, It just took me a while to sort it out. I highly recommend the new yz250 for hare and hound racing. 8)

General Two Stroke Talk / 2010 YZ250 Set up
« on: April 18, 2010, 05:34:49 PM »
OK Guys, I need a little help.
I just picked up a 2010 YZ250 and am in the process of setting it up for AMA District 37 Hare & Hound racing.

I have been riding and racing a 2002 CR250 since 2003 and know how to set one up in a weekend to feel like home, I also have a 2004 Service 500AF and have it set up just the way I like it.

Here is the trouble, I rode the new YZ last weekend on a 45 mile loop and the ergos feel horrible, I'm afraid I will never be comfortable on this thing.

I know the springs are too soft, I'm 6' 215lbs. The handle bars feel like they are in my lap.

I think I will try some CR High bars on it, And change out the springs.

Anyone know if you can make a YZ more CR like?

Thanks
Glenn
