I ran into JoJo at MX-207 in Maine a couple years ago, still a very cool guy to talk to.  I remember some of the epic NESC races he had with Jimmy Meenan in the '80's.

Jeez, in Maine we don't even need chainsaws for that.  I had the exact same thing happen to my truck (much smaller tree though) in the big ice storm of 2008.  A maple tree broke and came down right on the hood and windshield.

I remember watching him at the Unadilla USGP back in the early '80's, an incredible talent.  Of course, being from the US, I had to root against him, but not completely because I loved Suzuki's back then!!!  RIP Georges....

General Two Stroke Talk / Getting back into the game

Unless you are an Expert or Pro rider, I would really concentrate on suspension and handling before major motor work.  Pipe, silencer, light porting, and VForce reeds should be all you would ever need, head work might require race gas, big $$$!.  I'm an old NESC racer from the '80's, Southwick was always my favorite track.  But at my best I was a top C rider, even got my picture in Buckley's Motosport magazine a few times.  At that, my lap times at Wick were always faster on my 125's than my 250's.  More HP does not always turn into lower lap times, but better suspension always does.

It looks very similar to the Gas Gas.

I'm sure it is for proper fitment around the modern frames and much lower gas tanks, not for any performance gains.

I don't get down to NESC races in Mass anymore, I stick with the Maine Motocross series @ MX207 and Hemonds.  I would love to get back to Southwick sometime, that was always my favorite track as a teenager.

I raced at the same tracks with both of them back in the '80's, but definitely not in the same classes!!!

I second the YZ.  I also like the handling of the newer KTM's but nothing older than the '07 model.

Vintage Two Strokes / PROJECT: 1979 RM125

I always loved RM125's, started on a '78, moved to an '81, '83, and '84.  Never had a '79 but they were one of the best looking years for the RM, great choice for the project!

Technical / Clutch Plate Life Question - 2005 YZ 125

If your clutch doesn't slip at WOT under a heavy load even with worn springs, I would say your plates are fine.
