Technical / Base Gasket Sealant
« on: November 25, 2012, 03:17:37 AM »
Most kids my age want fancy clothes or money for Christmas.  I however have reason to believe santa is bringing me a top end rebuild kit from Weisco in the near future.  The bike is a 2005 yz250(as if my name didn?t give it away). I am getting a slight spooge escaping on the clutch side of the base gasket.  I was curious what type of sealant to use when I button everything back up to avoid future leaks.  Any help is greatly appreciated.  Keep on smokin' everyone. Braaaaaaap.

Have you ridden at tomahawk in the past month? If so I can back you up that this is one amazing bike as I have seen it run and it is a truly amazing machine.

Technical / Detonation

Thank you all so much for the detailed info.  So there really are no signs of detonation at idle? (I'm assuming unless it is way too lean etc.)

What is detonation and how do you identify it as compared to two stroke rattle?  I'm simply curious and have never been 100% sure about it.

Technical / My Bike is eating plugs

What heat range plug are you running? I used to run a br9eg and would foul at least one every time I rode.  After switching to an 8, i am still on the same plug after six months.  Look in your manual and see what heat range plug the factory calls for.  Hope this helps

17 Started riding quad at 12 and bought a 1994 kx250 for my first bike at 14.  Have since been through one thumper (wr400f which was a trail monster) and am now happily on a 05 yz250.

Technical / Is this too lean?

I find it to be just a little too sloppy from like 1/8 to 1/4 throttle.

Technical / Is this too lean?
« on: April 02, 2012, 10:27:16 PM »
Hello once again I have to tune my bike to get better and better response ( go figure).  Right now i run a 178 main with a 50 pilot, air screw 1 turn out with a stock pipe and pro circuit long silencer.  My elevation is 550 ft and the average humidity is 80%.  My question is, would going to a 175 main and a 48 pilot be too lean?  I put them in and can definitely feel the difference in throttle response around the yard, but im afraid when I am out pinning it on the track the bike will be too lean? Is this true or am I just being too cautious? I just want some more response without burning up the bike.

Technical / 05 yz 250 silencer

I run the stock pipe with the pc 304 long silencer. Simply put, I love it.  It has a nice deep exhaust tone when you wind it out and is smaller and lighter than stock.  Also, you do not need to rejet for the new silencer.

I know it sucks! I could deal with all of the other ones but that one is just massive :/ I wish there was a way i could just pull it out instead of sending it to pipe repair.
