Thanks for that riffraff. Now i am even more depressed. :'(
We have had 4 times our monthly rain fall the last 6 weeks and there is no where to ride at the moment. :(
And now we have got 60 knot winds AND rain.
I am starting to get withdraw symptoms.

Seriously thou great vid. ;D
I am trying to find myself a 82-83 YZ125 and will do a few of these events next summer.

P.S. Jetz will have to change his pants after seeing those Maico's  :D

In all honesty, there were about twice that many at the last vintage race I went to.

Did Accadacca frighten all the sheep away?

Is the NZ VMX a vintage meet or a "race what you've got" with a few restrictions? Reminds me of when myself and all the other neighbourhood kids would stage races at the local gravel pit with all our "rattletrap" bikes.

Infact the sheep arent afraid of ACDC at all. It's like elevator music to them  ;)
That vid was from a local meet. There were different classes , i think the vid was a compilation of the day.
We do have a national series with similar rules as most countries. I have pasted the rules below.

250cc   (186-250cc 2-stroke, 250-400cc 4-stroke)

Open    (over 250cc 2-stroke, over 400cc 4-stroke)

Linkage (all linkage rear suspension up to Pre86)

4 stroke handicap in everyclass  >:( although they really do need it  :P

Riding a vintage four-stroke is like challenging Clint Eastwood to a staring contest.  You WILL lose, and you'll probably end up deaf and blind, too.

Actually there were some pretty good open class 4strokes back in the day. I noticed for the "Linkage" it stops at '86 so there wouldn't be any class to race an '89 YZ490 in  :(

Being a fun class i have no problem with the handicap rules.
As Jetz said not many good thumpers around in the smaller classes.
The evo lites class is popular you can run XR200-250's, IT175's or what ever.
The linkage class is pretty much all 2 stroke. :)
The pre 75 class has a few thumpers Triumph,BSA Bulcato etc.

Hey riffraff you may be able to, by changing wheels.
You are alowed to use latter model bikes as long as they are the same as pre 86 if you know what i mean.
As long as your front disc is the same as pre 85 it is probably eligibile. :)
Some of the rules below.

All bikes (and parts of) must be of year of 'model release' 1985 or older
Flow on models may be considered at the organizers discretion. Individual cases will be judged by the Kiwi Vintage Motocross organizers and their decisions on individual eligibility cases will be final.

If you are in doubt, please Click Here  to email our technical committee.

Components such as late model brake discs etc are also considered to be performance enhancing over and above what was available prior to 1986. Please ensure your bike spec is within the spirit of the era of which you are entered to race.

Amazing video!!!  Got me all fired up!!!  Glad to see another YZ490 fan...I bought one last summer and am slowly working on it.  Funny thing is the kid told me it was an 87.  Everything was painted black, seat cover was a Daytona Bike Week T-shirt, fenders and side plates were custom cut for that freestyle look...gotta love kids!!!  Turns out that the bike is an 89, though!!!
