Title: So how did you do on your 2-stroke in 2014 and what are your plans for 2015?
Post by: VintageBlueSmoke on December 18, 2014, 12:11:14 PM
My year was successful. I didn't get hurt. I still have race ready bikes. My family still loves me (or at least tolerates me!) so I would say it was a success.

I was the Overall winner of the OEC Mini-Baja Championship.
2nd Overall OEC Motocross Championship.
2nd Overall MX1 Motocross Championship.
(tied for 3rd in MX2 but not enough races to count towards the championship)
5th MX1 in the Campeonato Regional de Motocross dos Açores
9th Overall in the Campeonato Regional de Motocross dos Açores

In 2015, I plan to race a 1997 Honda CR125 in MX2 in the Campeonato Regional de Motocross dos Acores. A 2008 KTM SX144 in MX2 in the OEC Motocross Championship, and the 2003 Gas Gas EC300 to defend my title in the OEC Mini-Baja.

AND... if I can encourage my 5 year old, he'll race a 1996 Husqvarna 50.

I had a blast in '14!
Next season I expect to be less fat.

ROTFLMAO  :P Why? did you stop drinking?

I am happy to forget 14 thank you very much. But I can walk again, sometimes without pain.
I will be riding in January, going to do a complete rebuild/restore of my 2000 YZ250 and probably buy a KTM144.
And post pics of the great riding in January, February for the damn Yankees.

My 2 stroke plans stalled in 2014. My 4 stroke blew a crank bearing and needed major surgery, then I crashed on another 4 stroke and hurt myself. My plans for 2015 is to put a 92 KX250 top end bored 295 on a 90 bottom end with a KDX trans swap to make a period 6 road racing motard. There's lots of things needed to be done to make all of this happen but that's the plan.

2011 Husqvarna CR150
Third place in our club's offroad endurance series, and finished the year off with a very strong second overall in our annual six hour hare scramble.
It was my best ride of the season, and will be the focus of my training for next season. Unfortunately most of that practice riding will be on a KLX250s. It's just so handy being able to ride over to the HS course, and put a few hard hours in after supper.

The bones have mostly healed and I have started physio to build strength and get movement back in my shoulder. Man it hurts!

Apart from a separated shoulder back in April the year has been good. Was running 2nd in the VMX 125 class after 2 rounds ( 6 race's ) but have dropped to 3rd after the last round due to silly mistakes. Although I holeshotted all 3 races. ;D
Plan is to try and finish in the top 3 for the season. Have 3 meetings to go.
Also want to get into the top 5 on the 500 for the season and stay in 1 piece.

The first race of the year, I raced a 2005 KX125 in one class and a 2005 KX250 in the other class. I did well for me. The next race, I broke 3 ribs and was out for a long time. I made the last race of the year with mixed results. I passed a guy on the last lap of my last moto while we went up the jump face of the finish line jump. I hope 2015 sees more efforts like that.

Good luck to all of you in 2015!

Only had a two stroke for a couple of months this year before grabbing a 450, been a good year on that, made a big event and met my goals.

However, the 450 just rolled out the garage this morning, and all going to plan, Xmas eve I will have its two stroke replacement under the tree. Not brand spanking new, but a very tidy bike none the less.  Excited to be coming back to light weight nimble smokers after a year on a thumper.

2014 was a ****ing **** year for me. Had fitness problems early in the year, got that fixed, crashed hard at a sand track and spent the next two months in rehab and another month and a half getting back to exercise. Then the local tracks management changed and all racing for the year was canceled. FML.

Totally getting a rotary for 2015! Or a 32 valve v8 with twin overhead cams and 8 carburetors. Or nothing at all, the b230 is still alive.

2014 was a strange year..  In March my daughter announced she was pregnant...  so next on the list was a wedding, but she had to have a bowel obstruction removed (yes during her pregnancy... all went well) , she got married, I gained a great son-in-law, (new riding buddy).  And most recently, I also was blessed with a grand daughter... With all this going on, my riding time was cut back quite a bit...

In 2014 my son and I rebuilt and unloaded a 4 stroke.  We have no plans to go there again...  In 2015 I'm looking to find a cheap "buddy" bike 125 - 200 that my son in law could ride.  As for me, I plan to get off my fat arse lose some weight, and run a few scrambles...  I also plan to get more riding time in, and to continue to sing the praises of the smokers...

Nice topic VBS
I also had a great season, actually the best of my life  :D
When I moved to my current city I got scared about how fast the guys around here were, decided to do an effort to get a more competitive bike...waited months riding a buddy´s four stroke when results start to appear...so a doubt started to destroy me inside...I
Wondered seriously if my very first brand new bike should be a 2 stroke...I passed through this in silence until I got a 2013 TM125.
Good results came abourd the screamer made me cry in hapiness (!!) Seriously
When my 2014 TM 144 MX was in my hands...and man I got even more convinced to have made the right choice. Amazing fast machine, in wich I got:

2nd Intermediate Class São Paulo State Interior Region  Championship
3nd Intermediate Class Minas Gerais & São Paulo State  Championship
One win and about 16 trophys (most of them podiums) on various competitions from setember to now

However I consider the main achievements to overcome fear  and getting over myself to become faster by training hard...what leads to get proven - even to the more skeptical 4t rider - t he value of a 2 stroke bike through running my bike on the front pack with huge and undisguised proud!! ;D ;D ;D :P :P
THIS IS TWO STROKE LOVE!
I felt many people, mainly veteran riders, got predisposed to ride a 2t again watching my races being sucessfull on a two stroke
Also people in general support was great

Next year I think a friend of mine will get a new 2t also, and another one who is recovering from injury is very fast and excited aboard a 2014 KTM 150.

For 2015 I plan to arrange the first piton change (bike has around 30 hours and the piston wear is still unperceptible), lose some weight,  and go ahead...Brraaaapppp!!!
Already anxious for the 2015 season
