Just wondering if anyone knows if the 86 maico 320 has a plated barrel? Ive got one in bad condition and was wondering if i could put a iron liner in?
-
Maico didn't make a 320 in 1986. Are you sure you don't mean 1996? If so, yes, they're nikalsil. If it's an actual 86 they are liners, but they didn't have a 320 in 86.

Might be a mistake somewhere i will find a frame number but was quite sure it was an 86 in blue, watercooled 250 with big bore kit, disc brake front and back

The original 1986's were red, they turned to blue near the end but they remained blue until 1997.
They produced a 320 in the 90s, not sure the first year of the 320, but 86 was not.
However, all the parts are interchangable and the motors bolt up so a newer 320 engine could fit on an 86 frame and a 320 top end might work on a 250 bottom end provided if the crank needed changed it was also changed.
I would say though that you'd just have to look at the cylinder and determine it yourself. At some point they switched to Nikasil like I said. In 86 though, they did not Nikasil.

My 1996 Maico 440 is nikasil. My 1986 500 is not and I had it resleeved.

Here's the 1986 Brochure.
They didn't have one in 1987 either.
However, the 1989 Brochure does list a 320.
