Title: 02 CR125 SUSPENSION SET UP FOR OLD FAT GUY
Post by: smcintire2 on November 25, 2013, 02:47:27 PM
Son picked up 02 CR125 so we could get back riding trails and tracks together, Had a hip replacement so my skills are limited my current weight is 220lbs so I wont be racing or getting aggressive just want to enjoy the ride and time with son. Any suggestions on setting the bike up to handle my weight? Besides a strick diet?

You will have to change the spring, if its stock it is for someone around 165lbs. Then set the sag and play with the settings for your comfort and riding.

I would try the bike as is. With your extra weight and the intended use of trail riding the suspension might be fine the way it is. ;D

was thinking this myself, i  think def off track it may benefit you. i have a stiffer spring on the rear of my 03 cr 125 only and fc oil lock collars in the fork and with fine tuning with clickers it is descent for moto. you will want it soft for serious trail riding.

Thank you for the suggestions I'm going  to mess with the compression and rebound this weekend. It will be a little while before I can do a spring swap.

if you are hitting the trails turn the clickers all the way out, bring a screw driver  and turn them in as needed. good luck s&m.

I used to do that for everything, set it as soft as possible and then keep hardening it one click at a time until you stopped bottoming, that way you get full travel out of your suspension but no jolts from bottoming. Works really well.
