Title: What do you do with old pistons?

I got a couple laying around taking up room in my garage and lots more in the shop. What do you guys do with em? Toss them out, hang them on your wall, melt them down and make new ones?

i throw them in my metal hop and bring it all to the scrap yard when its full for some extra scratch.

I like the idea of a little extra cash  ;D And if I had the con rods laying around I could make some lamps or something creative, but usually when I go to get the crank pin pressed out the guy takes the rod and I forget to ask for the old one.

The worn ones get thrown away...the destroyed ones get mounted as trophies...sick I know.

Depends. I often keep them in a box, so that if I come to sell the bike, I can give the buyer some measure of proof of what I've done to the motor.

We make a lot of our own trophies to give out at events (both 4x4, quad, and motorcycle) so I save all my old parts in a bin and weld/glue bits together to come of with something unique. It is better than the smae old plastic chalace...

  This is awesome. I may actually do this. My girlfriend already thinks I'm crazy, so this will just flow with everything else.

I do have a few destroyed ones hanging up in my room, they make for interesting conversation pieces.

Forget about pistons. I had stacks and stacks of abused clutch plates in the 80's I was proud to own and paid for. See my other response to a 125 thread. Bad clutch. Clutch must be punished :P.

I'm not one to abuse the clutch, but some things need to be punished! Like my RM for example, as soon as that thing is going I'll be thrashing it for all the money and misery it's put me through  ;D

I don't dare inspect the clutch on my old CR125. It was pretty dodgey when I first got the bike, pree sure its absolutely bfed after 6 months of extreme abuse.

Abuse and use are 2 different things. A 125 clutch properly used needs several changes over a racing season. Since I only play ride these days they last longer but I am on my first replacement. Two things make power on a two stroke. The piston and the clutch (500's excluded). Show that RM some love and it will love you back, even if it's tough love.
