the new 250f (reportedly from the japanese nationals where the newest of the new come out) it now has duals like its big brother
-
That's so it can make twice as much noise

Who cares.?
Not a bike I will ever own.

very true, i just hope to hear some news about new 2 strokes from japan over the weekend, but from the looks of it, yamaha is comign out with a all new 450 and 250f so its not looking too good
-
I think from now on you will have to look to Europe for our smokers.
The Japs have given up on them.

But you and I will have to hear them

and unfortunately they'll be easy to hear

although the frame setup looks similar to a tm with the higher tank perhaps they will catch the 2 stroke virus, unlikely but forever hopefull

Eye candy to the potential buyer...
-
All I see is awesome suspension.
-
I wonder if they'll go back to dual shocks too eventually.
-
jeez, tough crowd.
first the 4 strokes are too noisy and we are losing tracks etc
so a manufacturer steps up with a solution, ugly as it may be to try and shut them up and there is still a negative response...
-
Is that why they put dual exhaust on it? I figured it would've been a marketing/sales gimmick, bet a dual exhaust cost more
-
It is a marketing gimmick haha(Whoa dude, two pipes!). If they were really concerned with noise there would be a single large silencer, gasp but they would lose that power edge haha. What funny is that its been proven to make more hp on one silencer rather than two. So even if they would run one large one, it would still probably make more power.
-
I feel its a marketing gimmick and nothing more. Plus 1/2 of the exotic parts will never make it to the production bike. Same ol crap different day.
-
twin pipes help a lot with noise as it splits the sound , they test at 45 degrees from the outlet . its a lot harder to get a real reading when your running twin pipes , also you can run 2 shorter silencers that dont stick out a long way and get destroyed in a crash .

They've given up on them because they can sell the four stonks for more, and reap more benefit from the parts. When people get sick and tired of watching hte four farters poo their way around the track, get tired of dropping $1800 into their 250F after 40 hours (under hard stresss levels) and face total track closure owed to the noise, I can promise you they will start selling the two strokes again. They aren't going to lose the entire motocross market to the europeans just because they like one engine better than the other.
When the public decides they've had enough, nothing will change their minds. Its game over then.
