Meagan my daughter is on my Black TT500 G, first time she had ridden it! Video is from someone on an IT 400. She gets passed by the guy on the IT but gets him back on a "keen" overtaking manoeuvre
"But dad it just won't stop" She is used to disc brakes.

whats with the fire extinguisher uniflow?
Title: Motogirls
Post by: Uniflow on March 15, 2013, 01:12:42 AM
Legal requirement for forest riding in NZ. Most are zippy tied or bolted on and you would never get the fire extinguisher off ( in other words useless ), no legal requirement for detachment!!.

And by the way, Daddy and Daughter trail riding time, I agree best ever.
Meagan is now fast enough to " keep me on my toes ".
That's not difficult nowadays.

Probably letting out too much information but my oldest Girl has a daughter now just on three. I hauled her into the Yamaha shop the other day just to have a look at ( and a sit on ) the bikes. She was only allowed to sit on the twostrokes. I think there was only one twostroke there as they seem to be all fourstrokes now? She's very keen, but mum said no!! I can't see a problem. I'll try again when she's say   three and a half.

Well well   look what I found in the back of the shed, must be twenty years old! Built this for my kids when they were little. Weed eater engine through a 5" angle grinder gearbox, final drive by 1/4" pitch chain. This bike must have done thousands of miles round and round our house. All the kids down the street had a go at crashing it. I'll have to fix it up for the next generation, fresh carnage.

Here is what Meagan normally rides.

she's quite tall, most girls around this area either ride big wheel 85's or 250f's, not sure why they dont ride 125's vs 250f's. way lighter/easier to start/etc

but i can see the allure of the 250f's, they're basically everybody's perfect bike, easy power/wont kill you/fairly light/99% of the population ride them faster than 450's 250 2t

one of my friends rides a yz250f, she's pretty dang good
here she is taking the holeshot in the novice class (#22)

Whatever allure there is to a 250F to me is destroyed by the 1800 dollars after 40 hours for a top end. If theres one thing you're right about, its that Meghan is bloody tall.

haha ya stu..the rebuild is ridiculous. Aside from that though they are nice bikes...i wouldn't own one, unless i had a ton of money  ;D ;D but she doenst have to worry about that when daddy pays for everything

And considering daddy is machining his own EFI kit for a YZ250, I think its safe to say he can do the labour himself :D

The latest comeback I've heard for this cost of four strokes is: THey're only like that if you rev them hard. To which I reply: Would you agree that revs = speed in most cases? Yessss... So I should buy a bike that I can't afford to go fast on as opposed to a bike I can rev to the moon and refurbish for around $120?

My favourite part about going to the track is seeing all the dumbstruck faces as I roll off, having just blown by 250Fs and 450s alike :D

Post by: Uniflow on March 19, 2013, 10:29:41 PM
Yes daddy fix's it. But Meagan might have to go back to the YZ250T for a while as the 250F is sitting in the workshop with no engine, fitting the new cases to it for the YZ360 VRV, just patterns so far but I needed the engine out to make sure everything is going to fit. Might have to find another one          ( 250F )with a wrecked engine so Meagan can ride her fourstroke again, Meagan's engine is still 20 hours off a new piston.

Yes I am tall 6'1'', but I have no choice as dad (Uniflow) is also very tall. I am aware this is a yz250f and I do apologise, (it is the first 4stroke in the family since the TT500). I did used to ride dad's yz250 which was such exciting fun! But that was until I had a bad crash into an open culvert at a trail ride (now called Meagan's Culvert apparently). The robust yz250 was left unscathed except for a dent in the exhuast...sorry dad haha. I'm not allowed the yz250 anymore... But it sounds like I have no engine in the 250f so you?re a bit brave letting me back on the 250 dad haha just make sure the dented exhaust is back on for when I come home coz the last thing we want is a mark on the fancy shiny exhaust!

Welcome aboard. Is the TT500 when you had some issues with the drum brakes? Not much chop are they? :D I know how you feel. I almost took out my old man cos I was used to the rotor and caliper on my CR125. Got back on my XR100R and it just wouldn't stop.

I think the combination of the TT being sooo heavy (for me anyway) and having drum brakes which yeah aren't as bite-y made it so i was over shooting corners a bit (especially in that radical overtaking maneuver). it now has no kick start (it was taken out to lessen weight for a race) but as you can well imagine it didn't do much, it's still heavy as s***. All in good fun tho!!

I was sitting in the lounge with a few of my flatmates discussing whether or not darts is a real sport and a motocross add popped up which, i was stoked to watch (of course). The convo suddenly changed to whether motox is a sport or not...WTF! I looked at them all in disgust and proceeded to explain how motocross (/trail riding) is so very physically demanding and in every way shape and form a sport and then quickly left the room before i got angry if they even tried to disagree with me.

its better to agree and bash mx, then intern bash the things these people are into. i find it amusing to make something up about them, you now like look at them and say " what the?", make a weird concerned face. when they ask what, say some thing like " your head is misshapend" or " your ears are pointed". just make them self consious about themselves. more affective on women than men but no one wants to be ugly. put them on the defensive.HA!

Motocross is the second most demanding sport on this planet. I recall reading an article once where Mike Bell's level of fitness was compared to an average professional American football player. Bell was off the charts in all categories, he was even stronger in physical strength then footballers 50/60 lbs heavier then him.

guy has just started riding with us , he runs 15 km every morning 1 hour of weights in the gym 4 days a week , runs 1/2 and full marathons etc etc . he comes in after a session and is shattered he lays on the ground for 10 min , he says its the hardest sport he has ever done then he said the worst bit im not even fast  ;D ;D
he has also done a lot of extreme skiing and snow boarding { he is german } but said this is so much harder and scarier than anything like that as well .

he has a new found respect for MX riders
