Clutch is not engaging, check the cable for snapping, and adjust it so that 1/8 of the clutch pull doesn't move the cable.

what do you mean by snapping? The cable seems to be working fine has play before pressure is felt when pulling in

I meant if the cable snapped it wouldn't be pulling the clutch out. But seeing as that's all set, check the clutch springs would be the next step. What happens when you put the bike in gear and try rolling it with the clutch engaged and disengaged?

If the engine isn't running, and you put the bike in gear with the clutch out, does it roll freely, or does it lock up the tire?

it turns the motor over if you roll it gear

That's odd. Well if the cable is good you should probably take the clutch cover off and take a look at the clutch. Pull the lever then release it and if they don't move inward (compressing themselves) than you have an issue.

I would say take them out and clean them all... It sounds sucky and time consuming, and it is. I had to do it to my 250 once, but for the opposite problem. Oh and while you have it out, check the plates and make sure they are in spec and not worn out. What kind of fluid do you run in it?

After cleaning them soak them in trans fluid for a while before reinstalling. Hope this works for you, good luck  :)

No problem. I would consider changing the fluid to another brand to be honest.
