ya i watched the whole thing, it was crazy, i was scared for him for a while as he was tumbling extremely fast, i honestly thought i was going to watch somebody die. So awesome though how he pulled it off and landed without a single problem

i'm sure even a daredevil like himself was "oh shit" 'ing himself as he was tumbling past mach1 lol

He was nowhere far up enough to deal with reentry kinds of speeds. Hell, he was nowhere near space. "edge of space" is marketing BS at its finest.

Space begins at the Karman Line, which is at about 62 miles/100km up. A low earth orbit is at about 100 miles/160ish km. Hell, comms and weather satellites orbit at 22,000 miles - just about 1000x the height of this little drop.
Old mate felix was at 24 miles. Far too much atmosphere at the altitude he dropped at to get enough velocity to heat up enough to become a human hot dog.

Don't get me wrong, I am impressed as hell with his achievement - but a jump from space? Yeahnah.

This oscillation, if the design is bad, can reinforce itself until the part rips itself away from the plane.

I am amazed at 700+ mph -- even in thin air -- that his arms/legs/head did not do this.

We have been talking about it at work and were wondering how far up you have to go before you float away instead of fall back to earth.

Still a way to go then.
