Born in Dunedin, Florida. Moved to California as a baby. Father was a race car mechanic. Dad bought JN Roberts 400 Husky as his first dirt bike. I started riding in the Mohave Desert when Dad fell off the back giving me a ride at age 4 and never stopped. Xmas got my first bike, Maverick 50 (cover of Cycle News! - not me, the Maverick). Family stopped riding at age 13 (Dad hurt his back - not motorcycle related), but I continued to ride my two 175 Husky's. Enlisted in the AF in 1984. Traveled the world, never stopped racing...HS, Enduro, GNCC. Retired from active duty, 2004 in Azores Islands of Portugal. Married a local, bought a Vinyard, race Vintage bikes against kids on modern machines (first vintage :1973 Penton Jackpiner). 17 bikes and counting. Son born 2010. Already has and rides his first Husky (50). Just got a KTM 144SX to race the regional MX.

Suckered my little brother into vintage. He's addicted too with over 40 bikes and growing every day...literally!

in my family, almost everyone had bikes, dirt bikes, road bikes, trail bikes, and my parents were adicted to motocross racing. since i remember, we use to cross country (portugal) side to side, north to south after a sx or mx race, we also met some racers, but never let me have a dirt bike because they thought it was to dangerous, after asking for a bike every weekend, at 15 they bought me a mint kx80, that i still own. they were so afraid of me riding my bike, that they use to get in the van and drive to where i was riding, if i went to different spot, they would follow me, after that they started to get used to it, i was also getting older and use to ride almost everyday if i had time for it. now i'm 26 and ride twice a year, due to work, most of the time, 7 days a week.

Genetic. Both my parents rode motorcycles as well as one grandfather. As a teenager my father was constantly dragging home old clunkers,we'd fix them and ride them.Started racing trials, motocross and offroad events in my mid teens but suffered far too many injuries.Caught the vintageEvo bug and have a herd of bikes from Bultacos all the way to a Zundapp 100 ISDT.Would like to build a true 175 just like in the old days - not a 144 or 200. ;D

I went to monster truck show when I was 5 and before the trucks they had the FMX riders come out and do some tricks. It was the coolest thing I had seen at that age and I bugged my parents for a dirt bike. I got my first one at the age of 7 and I have been riding ever since.

I was 4 years old when my Dad took me to my first motorsports event that just happened to be indoor stadium mx .  it was 1986 and they were raceing bikes, quads AND 3 wheelers . after that day I was hooked and wanted a dirtbike really bad but I had to wait 4 or 5 more years to get one . Been riding ever since and have always made sure to go riding at least a few times a month but lately its been a few times a week . :D .  Started my own business just so I could work to live instead of the other way around .

I started when I was 8 (now 40). My dad, brother, uncles, etc all rode. My dad bought me an XR75 and first lap around the yard my mom made me park it because she said I was riding too fast.  :D

The only other people in my family who rode motorcycles were my grandfather, but he rode street bikes, and my dad. My dad raced a CZ250 in the late 70's but then he stopped. I didn't even know he rode until a few years ago. So, I didn't really have any family members to teach me or anything, I kind of learned by trail and error (I'm still learning  ;D ).

When I started at the age of 7, it was trial and error. If I fell and got hurt, it was 'don't do that again'. If I stayed on two wheels and rode, it was 'keep doing that'. The same principal applies to me now  :P

Yeah, I learned to use a bicycle with out training wheels. Someone would hold the seat and then off I went. Bicycles definitely form a foundation for motorcycle riding.
