Title: 125 vs 250 two stroke

I just sold my kx125 to buy a 250. Just wondering what people think about which is funner, the 125 or 250 two stroke?

Well, to me the 250 is faster but the fun factor of a 125 is untouchable.

a 150 ;D. a 125 is too slow so after about say...a lap or so the constant fighting to go as fast as you can turns into exhaustion. while a 250 has a lot of power to go fast its almost to snappy and you find yourself praying you dont whiskey thottle it and die. a 150 or even a 200 is just in the middle: not enough power to rip your face off but not so little you could use a sun dial for your laps. that being said i have a rm125 and love it and ill prolly love it more once i big bore it haha

i love the challenge of trying to carry as much speed as possible on my 125, i love how flickable easy to put anywhere you want it, it is. i never stop smiling when i ride it, it's hard to explain   ;D ;D

i love 250's as well but they're a handful for me, they can get you out of trouble just as fast as they can get you into trouble. If i were to own one again i would put a flywheel weight on it, to smoothen it out a bit, they're amazing machines

i think having one of each would be perfect, the 125 teaches you great technique/how to charge into every obstacle, and then when jumping on a 250 you use the same concepts as a 125 and it improves your riding exponentially. I am quite a bit faster on a 125 than i am on our 250. But i haven't ridden the 250 in a while, and i'd bet money that getting on the 250 i would be even faster than i am now, purely bc of the power increase of the 250 allows me to do more things than on the 125.

125's are fun. 250's are harder to manage, but once you get used to it, you will have so much usable power for anything.

If I was serious, I would be on a 250.  But, I'm not, I just ride for fun.  So I have a 125.

Havent ridden a 125 in many years, but I did ride a 10 150SX a while back nd found it pretty hard to ride, too used to a 250, was pretty hard to keep on the boil

125 all the way man....get an old six speed steel framed screamer fix her up powdercoat everything u can and put some wicked rubber on it and enjoy the epic battle to make it eel out just that little bit more speed....and enjoy having the biggest embarassment tool in the world when u beat the veal out of someone on a 250 dumper and get to just smile and ask him what all that extra motor is really for since he's not winning or even having fun smelling ur pre mix and roost all day

Try jumping on one after riding a 300 for too many years.  I have to re-learn proper clutch control...  Yes it harder to keep it on the "boil" but that's what makes the challenge so rewarding.

i would love to own one again, having one and the 250 would be cool, I think I would get used to it pretty quick

Thanks for all the input! I've had a 125 for about 3 years now and am just ready for something new. Im only 140lbs but I raced for years in my younger days so im not too worried about it being too much power. Just looking forward to trying to master the 250!

 I've had lots of 250's and they are fun to ride and they have the extra power to do what ever you want pretty easily but after years and years of riding them I decided to get a 125 and all I can say is it's the funnest bike in the world to ride .  I will buy another 250 eventually though and have both .

I'm glad this topic came up, b/c I've been contemplating trading my 250 for a 125.  I really need to find one to ride since I haven't been on one in about 10 years or more.  All I've had since my last 125 is 250's.  I've been riding for a long time, but still pretty novice on the track.

I just never feel like I can really get on top of my 250.  It makes me 'respect' it a little too much. 

Then again, when I hit the trail every now and then, I can't really imagine not having a 250.
