"Three cylinders, two strokes?and a weight savings of nearly 800 pounds compared to the Mazda drivetrain."

Only 8 less horse than the miata transplant, lmfao.

You have a 600 cc smoker (according to the AMA is equal to a 1200 cc stroker)  in a small car, total weight 1,300 lbs.  Talk about power to weight ratio...  Can you imagine the looks they got from the guys running  944's and e30's...  How the hell can this piece for crap with a 2 stroke engine none-the-less, keep up with our car...   :o

It still kept the CVT tranny as well, so it was going around the at 9k rpm's the entire race ha.

Now if only someone would do that with a lightweight modern lotus...... with DI?......

I mean.... Lightweight modern lotus, with two of the engines combined to make a mid-rear mounted v6, close-ish ratio gearbox, 6 or 7 speeds depending on how you feel.

Relatively short length chambers for max power not a problem since they can end near the back of the car. Electronically controlled suspension with fail safes so computer can never say "no".

Variable exhaust and intake geometry, but slightly less restrictive aimed toward more max power.

Nitrous Oxide system controlled electronically, emergency shutoffs, multiple parameters

Optional ballast compartment at the front to keep vehicle out of the sky!!

 :)

I Love this story! Lots of fun seeing those chambers poking out the hood! Pull cord starting! HA

If he had done it with a SkiDoo eTec 800 he would have had more horsepower than the original engine (like 150+ with the etec), still 800 lbs less weight. Actually even less because he could have filled the tank 1/2 way compared to that triple and still finished the event.

Single turbo set up on a e-tec 800 would be freaking awesome.

A turbo? That would really be something. Do these engines (Ski-Doo) use expansion chambers though?

:o :D freakin badass ill take it but can i have it with a normal starter? next he needs to drop in a second engine which would change powere to 180 at 1400lbs.
