Title: LOL transworld's "budget" build
Post by: twosmoke595 on March 16, 2012, 04:28:50 AM
http://motocross.transworld.net/1000125445/features/budget-build-2009-honda-crf450r/

this is insane!!!

they say its a budget build

at first they don't put the prices of the stuff, they just list the parts, and the manufactures of the parts. then they get about 10 comments asking for the parts

and it comes out to $5,277 (yes dollars, not in pennies, or paperclips) DOLLARS!!!! + there are a few things on that list where they don't say the price they just say "call for pricing)

Motor Assembly ? Call for Price
Throttle Body Modifications ? Call for Price
Replaced Fluids and Seals ? $200 plus parts

so lets say that the motor assembly is about 250, throttle body mods is 250 + shipping http://motocrossactionmag.com/Main/News/MXA-TEAM-TESTED-INJECTIONEERING-REENGINEERED-CRF45-6127.aspx

and lets say that the replacing fluids and seals is 50-100 bucks

and now that "budget build" turns into a almost $6,000 dollars!!!!

what were they thinking!!!

LOL, $3000 rebuilds my entire bike with over sized brake rotors/lines, 330cc cylinder/piston, Hinson clutch basket, Pro circuit 2 pipe, suspension revalve, etc.. In the end, my bike would be faster at half the cost. And the bad part is that the parts that they bought look like typical parts that you would replace with normally. This probably was a budget build, lmfao.

I love the line at the end of the article:

", the project was quite simple and should be a yearly task for every rider."

These folks are as out of touch with the average rider and Romney is with the average american...

Oh, and didn't they make it a cheater bike by putting the big bore (477) kit in it? Does 25cc really make that much of a difference to a 450 anyway? I guess 200cc over a YZ250 isn't enough.

What the fuck? how can they possibly expect people to dump 5 grand into their bike every year? Thats absolutely madness, my full bike cost under a third of that and I can rebuild the engine for around 500 bucks including postage, probably less. It can't last, it honestly cannot last. As I keep saying, my local track used to have a racemeet every sunday, now you'd be lucky to get a once a month deal. The market is absolutely crammed with four jokes that have been used for 1 season or so and pissed off before they blow. Budget build... sure in the same way buying an escalade is for going bush bashing.... Wankers
