I might be picking up a 1990 f250, efi460, 2x4 single cab, long bed, and with less than 100,000 miles, what gas mileage should I expect?

Well i get 16.5 mpg combined with a 2000 chevy silverado with a 5.3 (327) and 133,000, hopefully that gives you a decent idea

Not really, My 1993 chevy astro 4.3 vortec gets about 15mpg, lol. ;D

Yeah, no. You can't really compare like that. Just for instance:
'98 Jeep Grand Cherokee (5.2L V8).....12.5
'94 Jeep Cherokee (4.0L I6)...............10
'81 Corvette StingRay (5.7L V8).........12
The point is, various setups will reveal very different results.
Good luck with that beast. Gas prices are not going any lower. You might want ;) to consider a Toyota Corolla and a 3 rail trailer.

just a thought. Its $500(Widow owns it), and gas prices can go in any direction at this point. Weight and performance have everything to do with it. A 4.3 votec engine is simply a 350 engine cut down two cylinders. And it also doesn't help when this particular Chevy Astro weighs about the same as his silverado. As for the jeep motors, lets not go there ;D

I had a '95 with the 4.0 HO I6 and got 17 city 20 highway. Wonder why yours was so low?
I would expect a 460 to get 10-12 at best.

Gas mileage is a strange thing. I had a 1998 Dodge Ram Quad Cab 4x4 with the 318, 5.2L, that got 13-14 mpg, now I have a 1999 version of the same truck, but with the 360, 5.9L. It has almost 200k on it, and it gets 17-18 mpg!! I'm not complaining about that!!

I once had a 91 F150 and it was an electrical nightmare.As the truck got older I had to turn the lights off so that the automatic would shift into 4th and then it started blowing ignition modules. :-X

My 96 F150 has a 300 straight six.It's famous for it's durability(why I bought it)and it's poor mileage.I've always been afraid to check but I would guess 10 mpg hwy would be max :(

Agreed. I pulled a 4x8 trailer with an Elantra for 3 years. I don't have a hitch on my Civic right now but I still have the trailer just waiting :D .

It's a shame they don't sell light weight diesel powered trucks and vans in North America, A friend of mine from the U.S. was in Europe a few years back and was riding in a Fiat box van with friends.Rick said there were four guys and bikes in that truck, 2000cc turbo diesel and the thing was pulling 160 kmh on the Autobahn! He said it used 1/4 of the fuel his 390 Ford pickup (6500cc) would have used and his truck won't go that fast!
