Such a sad thing to have happen. He was a tru racer and have everything he had right to his last minute. RIP & GOD SPEED

I have seen this happen 3 times in my life on the track, one in my class at Southwick back in '84. I can't remember the kid's name but remember he hung on until Thursday after the race in a coma until he ultimately passed. He went down right in front of me, and I remember being happy for the pass at the time - until I found out what happened a week later. Truly a horrible part of our sport. Everyone with kids that race have to stress how important being aware of what the symptoms of this condition are, and if you don't know - don't let your kids race until you do!!! It has very little to do with pre-race hydration, physical conditioning, or anything else - it can happen to anyone at any high-heat race. Josh was an incredible athlete in unbelievable physical condition, and if you think it can't happen to your kid, please think again. This is preventable with proper education drilled into every racer's head before they put rubber to the track. I pray for the Lichtle family and hope they can someday heal from this tragedy - Josh will not be forgotten. Roost in Peace 811.
