What were the ITs used for? Like the equivalent of modern day ktm XCs?

They where a two stroke enduro bike, similar to the WR today.
Standard they looked like this

The ITs were a two day qualifier bike (ISDT competition).

The IT200's were fantastic trail bikes, similar to the KDX200 but air cooled, no power valve, and much lighter, last made in '86.  I love to find one and put a Baja Designs dual sport kit on it so I could ride it to work and hit some trails on the way home!!
